YAMAHA MG10XUF

I have this mixer and I have a compressor.. Usually on mixers there is an insert jack and you can plug in a compressor using a y cable.. How can I plug my compressor into my mixer if there is no insert jack on the mixer??

You forgot to explain how to use monitor function.

Hi there. Hope you don't mind me commenting on your work :)
I have no idea why they in the shop told you to run your keyboard through a DI box??? A DI box is mainly for instruments with low power like an electric guitar, so you can run that directly into the mixer which gives you a better level but also a better sound (if the DI box is a quality one).
In your case you don't even need that because that is what the Pad button is for.
Another thing ( sorry I can't help it) is when you talked about adjusting the levels with the gain control. Don't even look at the meters in the right hand side but look at the Peak - Led you have nex to the channel sliders. Let say it is a guitar you are going to use, then play the loudest sounds you are going to use and then adjust the gain control until the peak led just start lighting up, and then turn it down slightly (only a little bit) it is OK that the peal led occasionally are blinking. And then after that you can start looking at your meters in the right hand side and get the levels correct with the sliders (not the gain knob)!
