They need to release a "hub" app for companies to release their own cloud games that don't require hardware. Like some switch cloud ports work fine, no reason they can't release on a smart tv app that simply connects to different hosts.


I do think in our lifetime companies will try their hardest to only sell you versions of games you don't own lol

I somehow managed to get 2x Chromecast Ultra and Stadia controllers for free and as a casual gamer, I thought the platform was great. It allowed me to play some great games without investing in expensive hardware. I think it's a real shame that it didn't take off.

And now r/stadia is full of delusional clods snorting copium thinking Stadia was good or that it will somehow come back. It's sad, really.

Google is trash. There pretty much a political entity now imo. They snoop and push there propaganda on anyone that uses there apps or programs.

So -- why did Google drop Stadia? What was the reason that Google spend a shed load of cash, and then wasted it on not following this spending on investing on growing the brand?

Stadia was so late to the gaming party. Steam was already the leader on that area so why should we change to get less than that from a company that isnt trustable at all

I actually had onlive. I only had one game on it Deus Ex: Human Revolution. They were running a promotion where if you sign up your first game only cost $1. I actually had what would have been considered good internet at the time and even then I had lots of lag and other issues. Deus Ex was still playable and I was able to finish the game. Though the experience was bad enough that I never bought another game.

Later on when I was no longer a broke college student I bought Deus Ex again so I could experience the Real version of the game.

From what I've read, there is a console that has a commonality with Stadia: The OUYA, whose mandatory online DRM (with now-shut-down servers) makes it exactly as much of a paperweight as Stadia.

I already knew this was gonna die. It was never going to succeed at all. I remember On Live and the videos on THAT was bad enough. So seeing this when competition for consoles is already cut throat. It was dead on arrival.

I tried the stadia at Pax 2019 because they had the worlds only doom 2020 demo and let me tell you that the Stadia was TERRIBLE.

Enemys would just randomly run into walls when the internet lagged for a second, the input delay was slow compared to normal consoles, which was already bad compared to PC 144hz.

They had a table where they were offering a free T-Shirt and $20 stadia store credit for pre order and I didnt see a SINGLE person sign up. I was in line for about 30 minutes because i was excited for Doom more than anything else and around 100 people walked right on by that table. The demo employees looked embarrassed to be there showing off such a terrible product.

I realized I was a lucky one. I get why Stadia wasn't popular. I had the perfect combo. I lived in California, just 2 hours away from Google HQ, in addition to an excellent connection. So it wasn't popular because if you lived in somewhere like Texas, or god forbid Maine, it wouldn't work well at all.

In a world where Microsoft has barely enough confidence in cloud gaming to toss it out as a free bonus on game pass, Stadia had no chance as a standalone product.

Stadia dying after 4 years & Google ignoring it is like the Internet/social media equivalent of a parent ignoring their toddler choking on a big piece of food & parents not bothering to pay attention.

I had onlive back in the day, it worked okay I guess. Today I have Xbox game pass ultimate, and stream games all the time on there, it works well if you go on outside of peak hours (which is usually when I’m awake anyway)

Coco Hayashi in 2020, surprisingly ever played GOOGLE STADIA on April. She was happy at first but soon, she was furious about how bad Stadia actually is.

Seems like Google Stadia is as problematic as PLAYSTATION CLASSIC.

I have a bit of a fear of missing out, but the lifespan of Stadia was a rare time I'm glad I didn't buy in.

The best thing to come out of Stadia's death was them finally activating BT on their Stadia controllers, and finding out they make a decent controller for PC, phone, and Playstation. I think if Google just shifted to marketing their Stadia controllers as Google "Gaming" Controllers, they could still make money off them.

Apparently, Google decided to give up on Stadia once they realized it was doomed from the start.

As someone who only just this year could play zombies (BO3) online, there’s no absolute way that this service would take off. Not for another… 15 years or more 🤷‍♀️
