Look. I subscribe. I listen. I enjoy. But please....PLEASE...Rob...stop comparing one persons voice to another. They all have their unique voices. You guys are great (especially with The Black Crowes). Late.
ОтветитьDang those those pay phones I remember them
ОтветитьYou guys should listen to steelheart shes gone what a voice he has amazing
ОтветитьThe song is based on a true story
ОтветитьI talked to many a Sylvias mother back in the day lol
ОтветитьLove all you're Videos, but this one research more please, I'm being polite
ОтветитьDr. Hook is proof that magic happens!
ОтветитьBeautiful song from my teen life. So much good music in the 70s ....
ОтветитьI figured you all got this one.
You're everywhere with the good music.
This really happened to him There is a documentary about the Mom and daughter ❣️🎶✌️
ОтветитьThere is a bit of nostalgia there that a wonder if people today understand. Back in 1972, there were no cell phones. You went to a phone booth(if anyone remembers them)and put coins in to talk for a specific time. Credit cards existed, but few had them so no slots for them.
ОтветитьSinger is Dennis Locorrierre.
ОтветитьEveryone will feel this pain in their life if you live long enough.💔
ОтветитьIf only the younger generation knew about payphones
ОтветитьNot sure if you have covered it yet, but Dr. Hook's Carry me Carrie is freakin' awesome!
ОтветитьLyrics by the great Shel Silverstein, author of books for children of all ages such as A Light in the Attic, and Where the Sidewalk Ends
ОтветитьThank you. Nice reaction.
ОтветитьThat voice ❤
ОтветитьU have to listen to I'm a million air.funny as can be dr hook killer song.
ОтветитьWOW
ОтветитьI absolutely love Dennis Locorriere's voice. Other faves of theirs for me are More Like the Movies, I Don't Want To Be Alone Tonight, A Little Bit More. They were sooooooooooo good.
ОтветитьBetter Love Next Time...great song....was my theme song after my divorce....
ОтветитьLove that you smiled at the beautiful harmonies. I was and still am a huge Dr Hook fan. Thanks for reviewing this these guys are cool
ОтветитьThe new generation will never understand dropping dimes and quarters in the corner phonebooth just to talk to your girl!!!
ОтветитьThis song originated with a true story. Also... Just curious... What percentage of your viewers do you think knows what he means when he says, "and the operator says 40 cents more, for the next three minutes..."?
ОтветитьThis was their first hit, released two times, the second time it became a hit, the lead singer is Dennis Locorriere, the background singer with the eye-patch was Ray he was often mistaken for being the lead singer. Back in the day there was no internet or social media and band's toured a lot, Dennis told 300 day's per year, and they visited radio stations to promote, Dennis told that when the band arrived they treated him like he was the cateraar and they asked Ray to sing, they both felt awkward, when they left Dennis was treated as a star 😂 But they were friends they had so much fun. Nobody could sing this song with so much emotion and putting their heart in it like they did. By the way they didn't write this song, it was written by Shel Silverstein who was in love with the real Sylvia. There is actually a video on you tube telling her mother about the phone calls.
ОтветитьWhen you're young you feel for the guy, once you've had kids, you feel for the mom
❤
You might try "Black Oak, Arkansas " Lord have Mercy on my Soul;
ОтветитьIt's not Captain Hook, it's Dr Hook! If you're gonna comment, GET IT RIGHT!
ОтветитьHaven't heard this song for probably 20-30 years... same result - teared up again.
ОтветитьAlways has been a classic.
Saw them at the Daytona Beach Band Shell back maybe mid 70's... lol
I would like to see Amber's reaction to Dr Hook's "If not You" I can just picture your face at the lyrics. 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьDo you understand the old Phone System? You must put money inside. And after a short time talks the Operator from the company - time is over, get more money inside. Or he cuts the line.
Ответить"Sylvia's Mother" is autobiographical, with songwriter Shel Silverstein drawing upon his unsuccessful attempt to revive a failed relationship. Silverstein had been in love with a woman named Sylvia Pandolfi. She later became engaged to another man and ended up as a museum curator at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City. Desperate to continue the relationship, Silverstein called Pandolfi's mother, Louisa, but she told him the love had ended
ОтветитьOne of my favourite Dr Hook songs. Heartbreaking and beautiful. Such a fabulous band ❤
ОтветитьYeah, Sylvia's mother was giving the guy way too much information. The umbrella gave it away...
ОтветитьMy gosh reminds me of a girlfriend from Virginia that I never to this day foind out whst happened to her❤❤. Her name was Sylvia ❤❤
ОтветитьIm only seeing this now. I haven't heard this for many decades. I remehearing it in the car with my dad and I told him I was going to "punch out" Sylvias mother!
ОтветитьSomeone said about the lead singer. you can hear the tears in his voice
ОтветитьSylvia should have him up on a metoo
ОтветитьEvery follower of Dr. Hook can sing every word of every song!!
ОтветитьFor those that are too young....40 cents more was what it cost if you were calling from a pay phone.
ОтветитьSuch a beautiful song ❤❤
ОтветитьHow can they not be in the rock and roll hall of fame . Let’s start bitching people. I’m leaving a message to the rrhof tonight
ОтветитьSo this guy can barely work up the courage to call Ms. Avery, to tell her daughter how he feels about her meanwhile, ...across town, a lead singer for Smokie has been pining for his neighbor, Alice. For 24 freakin' years. Maybe the two lead singers need to go to a bar and drink several rounds of beer. Couldn't hurt????
ОтветитьReal story
ОтветитьGreat video of a magic song by Dr.Hook…Check out “your blue room”,by passengers..Very different tune..All the best🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
ОтветитьToca Raul
ОтветитьThis song makes me me think of relationships in the era of the Vietnam war when a man went to war and the woman didn't wait for him to come home. The man just needed closure. Yes, it's a sad song but hits home with many people of that time.
ОтветитьSong based on a true story.. look it up
