WORLD DILEMMA

Well haven’t us humans gotten this world in a hell of a pickle? Nature has been beating us up pretty badly what with fires and hurricanes and earthquakes. But what harm nature doesn’t do the humans are making up the difference.
The latest conflagration, the insistence on one group of people to influence or destroy or control, another group of people may kill us all before AI has a chance.
Most people of the world are quite happy to live a quiet life. Most probably they want to have reasonable work for a adequate pay perhaps have children and grow old peacefully.
But it appears to me that humans aspire to one religion or another who pay homage to God or Allah won’t allow people to live their peaceful harmonious and constructive lives.
The fierce adherence one religion has vowed to exterminate the adherence of another religion. I it appears that the Islamic force is the one most intent on destroying the culture of others.
In general, the adherence of Christianity and Judaism do not aspire to control, enslave, or subjugate peoples of another culture. The white Christian nationalists clearly think of themselves as Superior to all others and devote a lot of their time attempting to control the lives of other Christians.
One can understand the views and aspirations of both the Israelis and the Palestinians in the ongoing deadly conflict. The Israelis in the past have perhaps been less than generous and ensuring a good and peaceful life for the Palestinians. On the other hand, the Palestinians have allowed Hamas a fierce and deadly force in Gaza to be in control of the life there. The incessant bombing the constant rocket attacks on Israel and the latest horrific attack by Hamas into Israel has led the Israelis to say enough that’s it, it’s over, you can’t do it anymore. The Israeli response to this attack has been stupidly shattering, destroying any semblance of a peaceful life for years to come.
Both sides call on their respective God (Allah) to save them from death and destruction. Not only that but many pray to their God for the destruction of their enemies.
It is a great concern that our Congress Our House of Representatives has now elected a speaker of the House that is a devout Christian. Mike Johnson has very strong opinions views and values about how other people should conduct their lives. This man was voted into his position by the entire Republican conference of the United States Congress. This man is third in line to the presidency. When our president is of advanced age there is considerable concern that death may not be far away. A more serious fall with a head injury could put Kamala Harris in charge of our country. She is no doubt a competent and intelligent person and could fill the shoes of the presidency. If something should happen to her what would happen to this separation of church and state as promised by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution?
I repeat people! Can’t you all just leave people alone. Can’t you give up trying to make everybody in your own image? I repeat, almost all the people of the world just want to live an unencumbered life.
I live in an Asian country that is primarily Buddhist. They do not fashion their clothing according to their religious beliefs. They are not restricted in their diet in any way according to their religious beliefs. They dress according to the climate according to their wishes without any coercion by others. They meet one another with clasped hands. They do not go to church. They do not attend in congregations. There is no evangelism. They go privately as individuals or families and get some recitation of a scripture.
As far as I can see Thai people pay no attention to the sexual mores of others. I find Thais to be industrious, honest, friendly and humorous. Thai people love locks and Lotto. Traffic is quiet, honking the horn is eschewed As far as I have observed there is virtually no discrimination. Women are visible in every activity, workplace and scooter! No shoes or slippers inside. In general, people are very fit and athletic. Wanna pick a fight? Expect a foot in your cheek! There is virtually no obesity. Burgers, fries and cokes are not on the menu. There is no gun violence. I don’t believe there’s been one incident of mass shooting at all. It costs a Thai person one dollar to go to the doctor. Medications are also free and dispensed at the pharmacy in the hospital. As far as I’m concerned Thailand would be a good model for the other countries of the world.
C’mon folks, look to your own faults not to the faults of others. For the most part it’s none of your business how other people manage their lives. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, an advocate of Christianity, it’s time to start behaving like he taught.

There has occurred in preceding days a hateful, vengeful, deadly attack on innocent people in one country and now apparently there will be revengeful, destructive killing attack on the other group including hundreds of non-participating humans in the first two words: Retribution and retaliation.
This complicated, catastrophically deadly, monstrously world changing battle is a confrontation between Arabs and Jews. The words that contribute to this sad, sad mess are, fury, attack kill, hate, rage, outrage, righteous anger, avenge, threats, revenge, and retaliation and retribution.
This is an eruption of immense proportions. The Jews ask their god for protection, support, and strength. The Arabs, across the border pray to Allah for equivalent protection, support and victory., Adherence to these words can only result in pain, woe, and near endless suffering. Under the auspices of their religions, there will be no respite, no truce and certainly, no peace.
It is inconceivable that these killing, destructive, murderous words could ever be expunged from the lexicon of this western culture. These words are part and parcel of everyday life in both Christian and Arab.
Until and unless these words are erased, deleted, and banned, the billions of Muslims, Jewish and Christian people that subscribe, use and abuse these words and their concomitant actions will never live next to one another in friendship, civil discourse or equality.
The Buddha teaches that there is Moral Shame and Moral Dread. The first is that we are ashamed to do an evil deed, the second is that we are afraid of the consequences of an evil deed. Also, it is said that we do evil not as a sin but out of ignorance of the results of our actions. The words that are listed ar not found in the Buddhist lexicon. If even one of those words result in an action that harms another being, one is no longer a Buddhist. If one takes and observes the five precepts, the minimum of a moral life, it is impossible to perform such deeds. Doing so would guarantee eons of rebirths in the realms of woe.
Buddhists do not pay homage to a god. Buddha declared that he saw no first cause to the rounds of rebirth. A “day of rage” is impossible for the mind of a devout Buddhist. As far as I can see, “GOD” in any form precludes any hope of peace, civil discourse, or loving respect between all that have the same DNA!
