Chevrolet Captiva Crash Test

That thing was one of the worst vehicles Chevrolet ever sold in Europe. I repaired many of these Chevy Captiva/Opel Antara as a mechanic at a GM Europe dealership and the ammount of shit that breaks on these cars is insane.
Especially the diesel engines in these were total crap. The 2.0 was underpowered and had a short timing belt service life. It was difficult and expensive to replace. And the 2.2 diesel was leaking oil from factory at the timing cover like crazy. It was impossible to stop the oil leak on this car. We tried to reseal the timing cover on some cars 3 or4 times and still after a year it was leaking.
Overall build quality was garbage too with a lot of the electronics failing early and being expensive to replace. The parts for these were ridiculously expensive in general for the shitty quality you got.
The ride quality sucked too, it was too soft and too hard at the same time somehow. Felt like you're driving a loaded Pick Up truck from the 70's.
The costs of keeping this car alive are insane, at least here in Austria/Germany where we have very strict safety inspections. There's always something wrong with these and it just feels cheap and shoddy when you drive it.
You could immediately tell this was a Korean maket vehicle built by Daewoo for GM because it looked and felt 10 years old when it was brand new.

We have a 2018 model of this car, and its awesome. We nearly have this car for 4 years, its a Black 2018 Captiva. Makes angry sounds also. Sadly last year we crashed and we had to repair it. We cant sell it because its a valuable car and its safety in it. We recently repaired it and its now ok. I suggest you to buy this car because of its comfort, safety, and durability. Stay safe out there!

The 2014 model of this car protected my boyfriend and I recently when we hit a group of deer standing in the middle of the highway at night at 75 mph. We had no time to react and hit them at full speed. The car shut off immediately, the whole front was destroyed but we walked away just sore and I had a cut on my neck from the seatbelt. I would gladly recommend this car to anyone. The car is definitely totaled, but it did its job and protected us.

this is my dads car. we gpt the 2017 face ltz one and still it has crashed other cars but no dent just a tiny scratch and the other cars who get crashed by my dads captiva, the oher cars like the toyota yaris the back bumper got mashed but the captiva there was only a scratch XD

I love the Captiva. We own this car and have always felt safe in it. It is an underrated car which deserved to sell more than a Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento. It comes with a decent features list being high on safety with six airbags, ABS with ESP and hill start assist but misses out on a few quintessential features like rear A/c vents considering that it is a seven seater. The engine options are great and moderately powerful but there is a slight compromise on fuel efficiency. What gives it an upper hand over its rivals is it price which just accentuates its appeal and the overall value for money factor.

Four years ago I had a sandwich accident while driving in Chevy captiva (my car was in the middle between Toyota wish and Toyota fortuner). Thanks to Chevy. Though the engine was shut down and the car had to be under repair for three months, I did not feel any pain and did not receive any Injuires at all. Plus Chevy dealer sent a toll to carry my car to their body fix garage for free (two hours driving from the accident point).
