I want to build a intel 2500k budget gaming PC. I want to put a GTX 1050Ti, and 8Gb of DDR3 RAM
ОтветитьStill rocking a t3500 with W3680 6 core and a 960 oc 4gb, was a pretty good deal back in 2014
ОтветитьMight want to actually turn up graphics settings so more load on the GPU rather that CPU cuz that seems to be a limiting factor here.
ОтветитьHow did I miss this video!? I've got my T3500 for just £28! Came with some awful dual-core CPU that I actually managed to sell. Replaced it with an X5650 and later with a X5687. 24GB RAM and RX 480 and it works lovely for me :-)
ОтветитьWhy wouldn't you have upgrade the CPU from the W3520 to an X5687, it uses the same power but gets 30-40% better performance. And it costs £20-£25.
Also 12GB of RAM would help because you are using the Triple channel throughput vs Dual, assuming they have been fitted correctly.
Build one of those one year ago and its work great for gaming
Dell t3500
Intel xeon 3690
16gb ram
Radeon rx480 8gb
320gb hard drive with 2t0 usb ssd
This channel answers my questions. In the future, present and past 😂🙏
ОтветитьI want something for college laboratory benches to run programming applications. What you recommend for me ?
My comparison question is that is this better than core 2 due and i3 builds ?
it wont run windows 11 unless it has a TPM module.
ОтветитьYou can run 771 xeons on 775 motherboards and the 775s cost hardly anything. The systems are cheap as dirt and the only cost is getting the GPU
ОтветитьMy Xeon E5-1620 still works very fine with 24gb of memory ram and a MSI radeon RX 570 with 8gb of video ram as GPU :)
ОтветитьYou can use the old 771 Xeons in the 775 motherboards now, there is this sticker / adapter they put on the bottom to make it work in the board's socket. It's a super super cheap way to get a Xeon build with 6 or 8 cores for next to nothing.
ОтветитьRan a DELL XPS 420 for 11 years with the BSEL modded Q6600 at 3.0 GHz. Was a great PC until the PSU finally died. Replaced it with a XEON V3; coupled to HuananZhi X99TF that cost me $50...(Avg price as I was refunded full value on the first order for non-delivery...then the first order actually arrived to my door 3 months late). An E5-2678V3 (US$85; 12 core, 24 thread operating at 3.2Ghz all core after doing the microcode turbo-unlock using MIYCONST tutorial/tools). Runs very cool with a SNOWMAN 6x6mm pipe dual 120mm fan cooler for $27 (I upgraded for an additional $10 for full RGB). 32GB of REEC would cost me no more that $80, though I went with 32GB of DDR3 Mushkin REDLINE 1866 for $120. I went with a hi end 650W Corsair PSU for $90 as I am using a MSI GTX 1080Ti that I snagged (mint, used) in late NOV 2019 for only $350. I dodged a bullet with that GPU price, for sure. The V3 Haswell has the AVX2 instruction set and with the X99TF motherboard, will support 2x NVME m.2 PLUS m.2 (wifi 6/BT 5.0 mini m.2 card). I spent under $800 for the build, including the GPU and a vertical test bench (open air design). Looks cool, runs great, and manages 1080P up to 1440P with aplomb. Excellent workstation too. For the money, i could not be happier.
ОтветитьI bought a T5400 with dual quad core Xeons and 16GB of RAM for $42 USD lol. I use it as a room heater
ОтветитьJust got two t3500 i had two 5677 laying around and trew 2 hd5970 in those i got pretty good result
ОтветитьI have the i7 920 running at 4.3ghz and it still holds up really well. If you overclock those x58 cpus you can get up to double to the performance.
ОтветитьOne of my home computers is a Dell T-5500 with dual 6 core Xeon processors, 48GB of RAM, and a modest video card. I think I am going to turn it into a NAS, as it already has 3 TB storage in it. I love these old Dells. They are proprietary, but upgradable enough. It does take a minute to find all of the case releases at first, but everything largely makes sense. They are densely packed, but everything is accessible. Fun systems to play around with.
ОтветитьI own one of these work station so I can use it or flip it nice
Ответитьthe Xeon X5690 is amazing, my machine has 2 of them 😁 those W series aren't that great, I never had anything over a 970 in it, you can buy a dual gpu power adapter for that system.
ОтветитьThis channel is omega interesting.
Ответитьif you can overclock the 6 core xeons to 4.5ghz they outperform a stock 6700k/7700k. Still a pretty reasonable cpu even in 2022.
ОтветитьCan we upgrade the cabinet
ОтветитьMost of the older Xeons seem to only be worth it if they're the 6-core or higher variants. Sadly this particular W3520 is easily annihilated by a not-much-newer i7-2600k, but I understand that the main focus of this video was to showcase buying a "prebuilt". Whereas trying to find a 2nd gen i7 standalone build isn't as easy. Still though, it was interesting to see what an old quad-core Xeon is up to these days. Even now in 2022, for those who don't care about potential bottlenecks and just want a working, easily upgradable prebuilt that can be purchased for 10-20% of the cost of a more modern PC, it's a solid option to consider. Especially when all you have to do to get performance that exceeds previous gen consoles is just add a 1650 or RX 570. All in all it's a very similar approach to buying the older Optiplex PCs and doing the same thing, except with workstations you get somewhat better hardware to work with.
ОтветитьI made a build, back in the day, with a Lenovo ThinkCentre 1230 v2 and a GTX 1050TI (didnt require 6 pin power) and it was pretty good just how it was. Played a lot of CS Go at like 120 FPS smooth.
ОтветитьAlso please retry this configuration with Cyberpunk with FSR pls
Ответитьi was gtting a deal on ebay for t3500 mobos nd put them in a rosewill case with the mesh gfrobt and blue fans..may drill and add a standoff but the mobo will git...i got a video on here of it.i flipped about 4 of those pcs with rx470 nd gtx 1060 3gig..not bad pcs..was a 4c8t chip came with ot at 3.3gh;z when it turboed..i kinda show how tpo wire up the front panel... pins kinda in the mddle top of the black pluh at bottm of mobp..
ОтветитьIt being DVI or VGA out sucks.
Ответить😂 retest with 24 gb of ram why limit it
ОтветитьMy $10 craigslist Z600 workstation purchase just brought me here. One CPU (empty second socket), no ram or HD but is clean and works great.
ОтветитьNo Joke But I Actually Have One Of These T3500's And I Use It As My Main Pc Right Now And It's Amazing For It's Price!
ОтветитьYou can also put a i7 970/980/990 in this
Ответитьeven the first gen xeon chips are formidable for gaming so long as you overclock them to 4.0 and above and don't get the x3430, as it lacks hyperthreading
Ответить2022! (As DAW server)
Ответитьxeon x5355 and a 1080ti? how well wil that work
ОтветитьCan you replace the power supply it came with with a generic one?
ОтветитьDo you think this workstation will take an RTX 3060 CARD or AMD RX6700 xt with a power supply upgrade?
Ответитьgot one of the old t3500 mobos working...yes can add a psu,got a 500w thermaltake, also a w3565 chip ib mine, said 3.2 to 3.4....but waiting on ram and then get a rosewill cvase for it and instead of daughters 3g gtx 760 i may get a 1060 6g if i can..
Ответитьdid you ever faced the problem, that the values in the bios did not keep saved?
i already replaced the cmos battery, but everytime after hitting APPLY, the changes are gone ( hyperthread or ammount of drives... )
any suggestion anybody?
Dell loves BTX …. xD i was wondering if there are any chipsets that support 16gb ddr2 ram? Thanks!
ОтветитьSo it isn't just me then, old x58 boards really are expensive? You'd think that for something over 10 years old there'd be some old stock lying around just begging to be sold off for pennies but no... seems like you have to buy used from china and pay brand new latest release prices (only slightly exaggerating).
ОтветитьI repair Dell T5500's for a living. Most of the ones I work on have 6 cores and I've always wondered how it would do if I threw an RX580 or something in there. I also work on the Dell T7600 and those come with a dual socket motherboard and a 1000w power supply.
ОтветитьI have a xeon 2144g and an i7 8700. Building a rig for my kid to play Roblox. Can’t decide which is better to use
ОтветитьWhat's the max CPU upgrade for the T3500??
And do you know about any aftermarket coolers that would work in this machine??
Please do reply✌️
I love the Dell T3500, I've had one for years and years. I still use it as my spare PC as I don't have a laptop or pad. I went from an X5660 to an X5687 because of it's higher clocks
ОтветитьI'm using a T7910 with dual Xeon E5-2667 v3 and 128GB RAM using a dual Dell Quick Speed PCIe card with a 1TB Samsung 970 Pro, and finally an NVIDIA 1080 Founder Edition.
ОтветитьA estás PC se les puede poner memorias Ram de 8gb??? 🤔🤔
Ответить2024 double xeon server way way over priced now
ОтветитьI have that same exact Dell T3500 Workstation, but the CPU is W3565. It runs good, too bad it doesn't meet Windows 11's both CPU and TPM requrements, so these workstations might go e-waste after maybe 2-3 years, once both new games applications and Steam / Epic Store / GOG clients gets stopped support for Windows 10, despite those are still somewhat capable to run even pretty recent games for now... 🙁
ОтветитьAnyone knows how to throw in a rx580 in it cuz dell t3500 has only 6 pin?
ОтветитьI just repaired one of these and it had me flummoxed for a while as I haven't seen this issue before. When the CMOS battery voltage is too low the machine powers off after less than a second looking like a much more serious problem.
