The only Lucky Seven I tried was the toasted bourbon (because I tend to prefer toasted and double-oaked). Unfortunately, I didn’t like it at all, and ended up just pouring 90% of it down the drain. I really disliked it. Maybe I’d like their other offerings, but I’d never pay for a bottle again to find out.

Just ordered the Frenchman. Can’t wait to try.Will have to pick up the Workhorse to bring over to my buddy’s house to have with a cigar. The Proprietor sounds really good for a six year bourbon. Thanks for some great ideas.

Would love to see the Workhorse blinded against John J Bowman Single Barrel, Bardstown origin Bourbon, and 13th colony Southern Bourbon. All are around 50ish and a few proof points of each other.

Nice review Judge. I also really like Lucky Seven and have both of these bottles. That Proprietors 6 Year Single Barrel is so flavorful for only 6 years. Absolutely love Proprietors 15 Year and 14 Year. Also have Holiday Toast, The Frenchman, The Jokestar, and the Hold Up. They are coming out with The Bugler, cognac cask finished 132.12 proof. 😳

Going to be a hard pass for me on the Workhorse. 55 dolls for non-age stated sourced bourbon. Can't do it.

I'm starting to think Lucky Seven used up all their aged stuff up in the first two years. The Proprietor 6 year is excellent though.

Awesome review. I was on the fence for the workhorse, but your honest review did the trick.

Update: I got the workhorse. Initial impression: it comes across young. I've heard people describe whiskey as tasting nutty but I think this is the first bourbon I've had that is obviously nutty. Very strong taste of peanuts. After letting it open up for a week the taste is mellowing out a bit. For the price plus shipping costs, I can't recommend this bottle.
