I'm so happy you mentioned Vinland Saga. It's an anime that, somehow, is more historically authentic than the History Channel series. It's absolutely stunning what a good job the creators did with that one.

No like seriously. I get rather long depressed phases where I can never cry. I wish to cry so bad but nothing can get tears out of me. And in those phases Violet Evergarden saved me. It never failed. You can tell yourself you’re not gonna cry it’s gonna happen… and you end up emptying a couple box of tissues. It hits you and you don’t even know how. It’s so original in the way that it explores all of the forms love can take, not just romance. You grow with Violet just as much as you learn what pain is with her. You learn to see how beautiful emotions are. And from someone who often loses all sense of feelings, it’s just heart wrenching. I just love it so much
