Gayest game ever.

Came back again after 5 months and like 150 hours on the game. This trailer still manages to bring me to tears. I have quite literally never seen a better game trailer than this one.

After this game I am left with nothing but pure amazement and the question: Whether they can pull this off once again, and deliver a worthy sequel to make a full trilogy?

This trailer hits harder after beating the game. Before, I did not understand half of what was going on. Now it clicks. I own all modern gaming platforms and played most games. This game is unmatched.

300 hours in, still did not finish the game. Its part of my daily routine to play it like 30 minutes every day. GOTY and GOAT!

Excellent trailer. Subpar open world Zelda game. Most of the clips here are from past cutscenes that the player literally picks up off the ground. The trailer tries to present the illusion of an engaging narrative, but just like in BotW, the important stuff has already happened and it's up to you to retroactively experience a poorly written story at the hands of characters who usually talk to Link like he's a toddler with Downs.

Hardly anything is involved with the present narrative concerning Link, Zelda and Ganon aside from the player babysitting the 4 races again, electing 5 new sages to replace the Starfox rejects team from BotW, collecting the 5 macguffins, dealing with some light puppeteering from Ganon who has very little presence until the very end, doing dungeons that have been reduced to find-the-terminal kiddie games, solving more soulless shrines for heart/stamina pieces, and running a litany of side quests that have one-dimensional NPCs and lackluster rewards that are often totally aesthetic and totally useless (looking at you, Hestu, Addison, and Koltin). Factor in the poor mechanics, assets, map and music that was nonchalantly ported straight from the last game and the experience just isn't what it could've been.

The juice is almost never worth the squeeze in this overhyped game. They pulled most of their material straight from BotW's playbook instead of adapting an otherwise gorgeous game to the level of hype presented. The endgame weapons are still made of paper despite having fusion duct tape. Upgrading gear is still a resource grindfest in front of a laughing giantess with unskippable dialogue. And the game is incredibly tone-deaf and lacks world building, having NPCs who live in a happygolucky fartbubble despite the infinitely respawning demon hordes encroaching upon their lands under the command of a big, bad mummy who's been imprisoned for aeons.

Ganon spends the entire game in a hole in the ground astral projecting to do some light trolling and trickery. He doesn't utilize the indefinitely respawning legions at his disposal. One group of monsters overtakes Lurelin and that's it. Because of this, Hyrule and its denizens are virtually detached from all threat. Hateno is more concerned with fashion and cheese than the bokoblin and moblin hordes who mostly just keep to themselves. The themes this game could have enacted to make a riveting dark world above were done away with for ease of development and a kid-friendly environment where weather and muck were the worst things Hylians had to contend with. Even main characters do not even know what words like "demon" or "king" mean despite having survived the recent calamity. This to me is the pinnacle of poor writing and under utilization of the hard-hitting themes that they kept buried beneath Hyrule Castle. This should've been the kind of game that would make Majora blush on the third day. Unfortunately it reserves all the foreboding for the last hour when it's finally time to dunk on Ganon with a sword that's suddenly cured of its chronic ED at the sight of its favorite Gerudo man.

And finally, there's a big twist (which I will leave unmentioned) that is magically undone at the end. I was actually surprised by this twist. It caught me off guard and piqued my interest after its cutscene unfolded. But its major theme of sacrifice is totally upended despite being referred to as irreversible/permanent. And the one who performs it doesn't even retain memory of it so that we can have a hamfisted happy ending.

It's pretty and fun at times. Ascend is unique. Fusion is a wildcard. Autobuild is the only reason I can tolerate Fortnite mechanics in a Zelda game. The new enemies were great additions to the small bestiary of BotW. But the overall presentation is "Zelda" in name only. It's nowhere near the rich experience that it could've and should've been given that 1) it had 6 years of development and a big budget as Nintendo's flagship title, 2) the overworld map and much of the assets/NPCs/enemies were already made, and 3) the comparatively large underworld map is just the inverse copypasted topography of the overworld with a layer of darkness. Like its predecessor, it's often wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. The writing, corner cutting, and overall direction here is just not worth $70.

Make. A. DLC. So many unanswered questions. What exactly are the depths? Who were the three dragons? Who is the ancient hero? Did Sonia and Rarau have a child? The two ladies that were behind ganondorf was that kome and kotake? What happened to the ancient tech? Like so many unanswered questions, and no DLC?

This game came out the day before my wedding, and joined us on our honeymoon. Months later I still look back to this game as a reminder of the best week of my life. This game will always hold a special place in our hearts

Who else had the strongest reaction out of all 5 trailers when they saw ganondorf's face reveal?
All jokes aside though, the other trailers hid most of the game. This one displayed a lot of it, love that!
