What is this guy talking about… my 2015 compass limited edition. Is wonderful! This guy is sort against Italians… I would certainly buy another… 85k miles and only oil changes… it has all the bells and whistles and is quite peppy and durable… this guy doesn’t know what he is saying!!!

I love Scotty, but it feels like he didn’t really talk about why it’s a bad vehicle, other than the quality of materials. Seems more like a video about his hate for Fiat, which I get. Everyone in the comments with Compass’s seems to love them and have had no issues. They’re even reported as reliable vehicles. Can anyone argue that?

I have a 2008 Patriot that has almost 200,000 kms on it and it has been very reliable. Bear in mind, I avoided the cvt transmission and got the 5 speed with the 2.4 litre engine. It's been a decent car and I am still driving it. It's the 4X4 and the only issue has been the body rust around the rear wheel wells and the rear diff has developed a small leak at the driver side output shaft. Still........

Compasses aren't reliable long term. Mine made it to 100k and then it seemed like stuff was breaking constantly. 2 crank sensors, electrical issues, then one time we were driving and water started leaking out of the front dome light (happened once then never again). Then replacing control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings, electronic throttle body went bad, brake lines collapsing on multiple occasions, radiator filler neck cracked, All the pulleys started to go including the alternator. After a new alternator the turn signals would mess with the dash light brightness. then a really fun one was the front sub frame rusting out. The rear sub frame would have been next but the trans went last week at 170k. It took alot of time and money to get that last 70k miles out of it. Ive had cars with 260k miles that required less work.

Ive been thinking about buying one of these used down south with a 6 speed manual awd. As a winter beater and replace everything that would typically fail...breaks wheel bearings cv shafts tie rod endsand possibley an alternator. Parts are cheap and the 2.4 seems to be reliable. How long do the timing chains last or are they a belt?

I bought a 2018 Jeep Compass 4x4 with 19,000 miles on it and just rolled over 200,000 miles ( lots of Lyft/Uber trips in the past ) and it has used oil since I purchased it but it's not burning or leaking it and I keep it
changed myself on regular schedule , it has surprised me to still be running !!!
It is a beast of weight on starts up hills from a dead stop but my gas mileage is 26 - 28 mpg .

I have a 2014 jeep compass with 188000 kms on it and runs great !! I have done periodical maintenance’s like suspension and brake repairs which is common for all the vehicles. The best advise is to do the regular oil services and replace the spark plugs when it’s due (the user manual has the exact periods on when to do the maintenances). The only extra stuff I had to do is to replace the electronic throttle control and the alternator which is not that expensive. If you take care of her she runs great and is a beast in the northern Ontario weather. And please be nice to her, just because it’s a 4*4 don’t make her work too hard 😂.. I love my Jeep!!

Mr.Scotty is great but all he says in the video is his personal opinion on this vehicle. Please don’t take his opinion as the sole reason to make a decision. We all have personal likes and dislikes and Scotty has the same!!

Have A 2018 compass Latitude ( bought for 18k w/ 5 k miles )65k miles on it now, been driving 60+ miles daily for work, had no issue as of this date , drive it now only 4 miles to my new job and yess highway miles compare to town is a big difference. Only electronic issue I have no is the U connect screen starting glitching. Won’t say it’s a bad car but we get what we paid for and as of now I’m happy with it 😊. ( we all got personal opinions )

That compass is just a Mitsubishi, thanks to mercedes management destroying, cheaping out and stealing their cash reserves, of Chrysler. the other model 2017 and newer was just a Fiat. I would think a mechanic would know that's a Mitsubishi, thanks to mercedes NOT Fiat.
