Would have been nice to find this yesterday. I got pissed off trying to figure out how to do this without an optical drive and went to bed. Spent a few more hours today and finally got it done.

I reused an old Hdd with data already on it and unallocated 500Gb to install windows on. I've hear that's not a great idea, but it's working fine so far. Also pulled another strange move in the form of reusing another drive with windows already on it as a secondary drive. Made sure the boot order was correct so I wouldn't have problems with it trying to use the wrong install.

So yay, I get to keep all my old data.

I’m getting a “windows cannot install the required files” error while installing windows. Tried 2 different usb sticks with a fresh copy of window media creation on each and they’re formatted in NFTS or whatever it is. Man’s is stuck 😢

How do u activate windows without product key?

I just use a couple USB sticks, one with a bios update and one with the windows install and the drivers for the Networking solution I am using. Connect to the net and download all the drivers I need.

Did some of these steps to my gaming laptop. Only thing i couldn't find was how to set my ram speed higher on bios. It showed total memory, but not any other specs and couldn't find any settings to adjust them. Im using Asus tuf gaming laptop.

youll have to immediatley start buying upgrades because in the time youve built it, its already obsolete and full of bugs from outdated drivers, oops, tech is awesome!

I just finished my build and it starts up fine! Do I just ignore the part where it says "New CPU installed, fTPM/PSP NV corrupted or fTPM/PSP NV structure changed." It says press Y to Reset fTPM or Press N to keep Previous fTPM. It's a open box Gigabyte B650M K motherboard. I'm confused

Back in the day, the best place to find a windows key was eBay.
When people sell their old computers, they take pictures of the windows key that may be on the back of a case, or bottom of a laptop.

just a question for anyone. can I do the entire process. skip the bios check annd just choose the correct drive in the windows set -up if i know the size difference in the drive is significantly different to any other drive hooked into the device?

Hey I got to the first initial step and it restarted and sent me straight back to bios? Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

What I always do after building a PC and installing Windows, or if have just clean-reinstalled Windows, first thing I do is goin into Settings > Windows Update, and check for SO updates. I let windows install all the updates that it needs after a clean install.
Then I go to the website of my motherboard and install the latest updates and also the Settings Client of the motherboard. That software is always helpfull to use the features and settings of every specific motherboard. I do the same with the Graphics card (in case the motherboard software doesn't handle the GPU aleady), I play with the fan curves and after I'm happy with all of that, I start installing my most used apps either from the internet or from an USB that I have with my backup files and apps installers.

That’s what always stops me from completing the build. I have built four of them now on my fifth and I always have to bring it to a shop or a friend for them to install windows and do the drivers. I just never can do it all the videos I see are like eight years old and we are on motherboards that have DDR five now and it’s just very very frustrating.

I just use a other device to create a bootable OS stick. And buy myself online a license key 🔑 for a few bucks. Boot the system from the stick and max 15 min later the OS is installed. How hard can it be ? 🤷🏻

The algorithm pointed me this direction. Finished my first ever build. Flash the BIOS to the latest version, after that, all I did was move the network driver to a flash drive, and after installing and booting windows, I installed the network driver. MSI took the rest on autopilot and installed all the other drivers from their website. Accidentally found that little shortcut, and figured I'd share it. That way you aren't sitting there forever waiting for files to transfer back and forth. Hope this helps somebody
