holy infinite ad read batman.
ОтветитьToo bad I cut off the random abandoned coax that was sticking out of my floor in a couple rooms. Moca seems actually decent
ОтветитьSick! Thank you for vid. +1 sub
ОтветитьSo excited to try this!!
ОтветитьHow do you have both an Xfinity and Google Fiber router
ОтветитьI live in an NYC apartment with a bunch of SSID around me, I have FiOS and struggled to get the max speeds, however just found out from your video about coax cable connection, now I have max speed on my Xbox and PC without wifi.
ОтветитьSome IT schmuck from the ISP convinced my landlord to remove all coax cables. It's like they want to throttle your performance. Here's the worst part, the ISP here in Canada is basically forcing us to use a hub and even though we're paying for 1gig speed I'm getting 50mb/s WIRED! We have rooks here in Canada (maritimes)
ОтветитьHave any suggestions for things if you do not have coaxial plugs in your house
ОтветитьPowerline is not always a great idea not just because of the performance. My case did not work because the breaker kept tripping. Great video by the way, this is very helpful!
ОтветитьI've got a question. Would MoCa work when placed between my fiber point and my Modem/router. The problem i have in my place is that there is about a two floor distance between my appartment and where the fiber conncection enter's my home. There is an existing Coax cable in the wall running to where the fiber cable enters the house. So my idea was to connect my modem in my appartment through the coax to the fiber using moca connectors. Thanks in advance!
ОтветитьIs it possible to do MoCA for internet and TV signal at the same time? I'd like to hijack the coax wiring for home network backhaul but keep signal from aerial to the TVs. Is it just a splitter job?
Ответить@snazzy what is that keyboard you’re using? It’s awesome!
ОтветитьMoCA has been by far the best with little to no signal degradation. Now all my TVS and computers are basically hard lined.
ОтветитьUnfortunately, since I am not living in the United States, I can’t order them Because I’m living in Germany. Do you have any other brand that I could use for the specific scenario that you would recommend?
ОтветитьMy house never had cable tv/internet. The guy used a satellite dish that he DIY'ed so all the coax cables go directly to it.
ОтветитьI was passively researching all of this over the last year as I wanted to get a wired connection to my office, this is by far the best video on topic I have seen and I even learned a few things here (somehow I had the impression if you are using the coax in your house, you can NOT use MoCA, which I learned is not true). I ended up just dropping Ethernet everywhere I needed it from the attic. Not the cheapest option but definitely the proper one, although had I seen this video before I ran the ethernet I would have definitely went the MoCA route.
ОтветитьNaw, that much latency is a dealbreaker.
Ответитьa 3 MINUTE ad
ОтветитьPowerline sucks when it doesn't have perfect conditions. My mom's ISP offers IPTV, but their boxes don't have Wifi, so to get the signal to the TV she's using Powerline. Guess what, Powerline regularly can't supply the constant 8-10 Mbit/s needed for standard HDTV
Ответить:( I was hopeful but my unit is so old, we don't have coax... LOL
ОтветитьI have this issue in my condo and was wondering how to configure my coaxial cable internet. I have a cable jack in my living room and one in my bedroom. My ISP is using the cable jack in my living room to connect to my own modem and then the Ethernet from my modem to my router. So I can’t use that cable jack since it’s connected to the modem/router. How would I go about connecting my cable jack in my bedroom using moca? Do I put a moca adapter in front of my router and modem? Do I use a splitter? I can’t run wires that long since I have no attic access. Any ideas on how to configure this? I want to use the 2nd cable jack to set up a wired mesh system for my condo. Any ideas would be helpful!
ОтветитьSomething to note. download speeds are not the end all be all. Hard wire connection of any kinda can be and usually is more solid than wireless.
Ответитьabout powerline: it sucks ass if you have to go across multiple phases like I have to do because in Europe houses are hooked up to the grid using 3 phase power
ОтветитьOutlets in series? Do you even know what you are saying ?
ОтветитьThere’s a COAX port in every room of the house I rent so how do I know which port to use as the starting port?
ОтветитьThat “slow” powerline connection is faster than what I’m getting from my ISP. lol
ОтветитьOption 3, any day !!! Run the cable around
ОтветитьLongest ad ever.
ОтветитьI cannot get my computer to pull up the setup screen. I set the IP address and still no dice.
ОтветитьFellas just tape an Ethernet to the floor
ОтветитьSo basically without a coax in the room I need the hard wire in I am screwed? awesome....
Ответитьthank you!
ОтветитьI remember when i got new internet and Plebs on tiktok told me to get a powerline rather than just running long ethernet cables when i already had one and it was bad, even wired it was bad but i did fix this issue with mesh wifi.
ОтветитьIm confused. My local isp’s dont offer speeds that fast. Would I switch providers to get the speeds possible with this setup?
ОтветитьI never hear anybody ever mentioning this, but there are these special flat wires that you can use to pass an ethernet cable through a door or window, i used them in my previous apartment, it was just a ribbon cable with ethernet on 2 sides, flat enough to fit through the gap of a closed door. i loved it
ОтветитьIf I could just pull 2 cat6 cables from my main termination back to the fiber, I’d be good. Easier said than done.
Ответить3min ad read…?
Ответитьi think ima just drill a few more holes
ОтветитьPowerline is essentially Wifi without the aerial, where your mains wiring is used as a wave guide to vaguely constrain that wifi signal. It even runs on the same 2.4GHz and 5GHz unlicensed radio frequency bands.
We used to run a powerline network when we were renting and got around the same performance with our Homeplug (85Mbps) and AV200 kit as this video shows with AV2000 kit. I'd always assumed the problem with Powerline was that it wasn't keeping up with the latest innovations in wifi, but it looks like even with those innovations, home wiring isn't often able to take advantage.
Look at waves plugin background noise removed ( don't work for them)
ОтветитьThe catch in my place is figuring out which coax are dead and which are actually connected. It's a rats nest in the attic 😫
ОтветитьSigmaOS looks super cool so I clicked the link aaaaaaand it's only on MacOS, god damnit.
ОтветитьCan’t wait to get the full DSL bandwidth from my local isp monopoly 😂 cool there are coax standards I didn’t know about
Ответить40mbps is good speed in Australia!
ОтветитьBeautiful watch btw
ОтветитьWow... It was a lot of useful info!
Thanks!
Just a heads up that those moca frequencies are about to get busier and even some devices(like cable modems) that theoretically don't operate on moca frequencies get real annoying if there is moca on the lines. Frankly I'd only recommend moca if you're on fiber for your internet and aren't using the coax for anything in your home. Even then much like powerline, you're gambling on the quality of the lines and how they were run. A lot of older houses are run with tons of coax with wild splitting because analog tv was pretty tolerant of excessive splits.
ОтветитьThere are still so many boomers using coaxial to power cable boxes.
ОтветитьAh, so it's a bit like Dial-up.
