ESB is NOT EVEN a "Movie", it's a pastiche of badly connected vignettes that are in desperate search of a plot that DOES connect them. It has no beginning or ending, it just hangs in the middle between two better written movies, like the scenes in it did not make the cut for either ANH nor ROTJ.

And yes i like it for its vignettes. Does not matter i have to join a cult, that pretends it is something it cannot possibly be.

It also may be wholly George Lucas' fault as reportedly he was on the way to cut A new Hope or the original "Star Wars" (no other title) a similar way until his wife and Spielberg had an intervention and screenings failed BADLY... He tends to lose the focus on HOW to tell stories over his confidence regarding WHAT he wants to tell... Thus the frequent flip flopping between tightly directed action scenes that are just breathtaking and pointless minutes of staring at an opera scene, watching Padme and Anakin taking a Spacebus or the awkward... let's call it flirting on a big patch of grass with tick-cows and stuttering confessions about ... SAND. That man is a great producer, with a very vibrant imagination for costumes and gadgets, but he's also a horrid director, if he has sole control.

I think it is built in the story - THERE ARE RULES! Yea you might have an awesome dog, or visit desert, or just simply getting into bigger shit. But at the solid foundation level lies the rules, which sets us apart from being an animals. So the story pushed the Sequel-itis back, and didnt let it develop. Yes the rules are broken, but its the fact that we know they are broken. We watch bunch of criminals getting killed, but we grasp when the rules are broken. It is simply amazing!

John Wick Chapters 3 and 4 were 100% sequelitis. It should have ended at 2, which already had a paper thin villain whose stupidity would not have been rewarded as it was were it John Wick Chapter 1.

I honestly felt like the third movie was terribly lackluster. Just kind of felt like it did hit sequel-itis for me so much so that idc to watch the fourth one.... The way I felt about the recent matrix movie is exactly how I felt about watching John Wick 3, excited to watch it but incredibly underwhelmed to the point I don't care what comes out next

You kept bringing up Pirates of the Caribbean through clips in this vid, and 4 and 5 I totally agree with but I don’t think at worlds end tipped the scale quite yet. The mythology of the pirates got a bit pointlessly out of hand fully agreeded. But the story never lost sight of the difficult lengths Will and Elizabeth have to go through for love, and Jack’s complicated inner compass. It approached critical mass but anchored itself well. Then it all went to sh-t.

Just my opinion tho.

Love all the ladies in the series as well. They're ALL femme fatales, even the non-descript and "nice" ones with the exception of Bridget Moynahan, but then again, her character is already dead from the very beginning.

The color scheme of John Wick universe is almost a character in and of itself

I enjoyed the Continental and the sound track was great too.

If there was one moment where he should've actually died, it for sure was that motorcycle scene, it still gets me mad everytime that 8 trained killers and bikers with samurai swords and guns are chasing him. They could just shoot the shit outta him. or slice his backwheel off. There is like million different styles they could kill john at that point with. But they all decide to be stupid and john rides a bike, while disarming, another dude with a samurai sword meanwhile the dude next to him is swinging his sword to john and he dodges it at the same time as he does all these other things. Humanly not possible.

Killing a man with a sharp pencil is so easy. I never understood why the first film had that saying that people started to comment every time there was something john wick relited.

Back in 2014 i remember seeing the poster for john wick and remember how super generic it looks. Back then i was a dumb kid who didn’t appreciate movies and only likes superhero movies.

Fast forward to 2017 when john wick 2 released and I remember hearing the buzz about the pencil scene, yet i still didn’t watch it cuz I wasn’t interested.

2019 john wick 3 released and me being a bit older and starting to appreciate movies and cinema finally watched john wick 3. And my god this series became one of my favorite

Utterly disgusted. I would have taken my money back if it were possible. What a pathetic finale to a trilogy. The storyline was poor, and the action scene choreography was amongst the worst I've seen, as though a dance choreographer who understands nothing of combat made it.

John Wick isn;t a movie: It's a video game played out. We just want to see how inventive each level is and how he's gonna survive.

as long as the spinoff film and prequel series keep to the same degree of conflict as John Wick has, then I think most fans will enjoy them. For example, if Ballerina is suddenly thrust into thwarting a world ending terrorist nuclear threat plot or the continental series is about the soviets vs USA nuclear war then most people will think: "Well that's bullshit, how is this linked to John Wick at all?"

nah john wick 3 and 4 were just kinda lame. They honestly should have spread it out one more movie with how much action it is. i found myself falling asleep during 3 and 4. Maybe its because Ive been in real life scenarios in law enforcement after the 1st movie came out but I wish it was better.

I reckon John Wick has killed more people than he's said words.

Tbh I like The Continental but it doesn't fulfill anything on the franchise only talks about Winston and Charon, but nothing else, maybe in the long run what it was shown on the show would appear

Shaky cam was the terrible editing style that got me out of action movies. For me, it breaks the immersion of a scene, making it a sign of terrible film making. It became popular in the early 2000's after Blair Witch Project used the technique correctly to make a niche horror film. But ever since then, it's been used as a crutch by action movie makers who don't know how to properly make action movies. Whenever I see the shaky cam now, I know it's safe to pause the movie and stop watching because I won't see anything interesting.

I actually feel John Wick is a textbook example of sequel-itis. The story gets more shallow and thin, relying on style over substance, when it was already a style over substance product to begin with. I fell asleep from boredom in JW 2 & 3, and never bothered to watch 4, and never will.

As a trained dancer, Ballerina's trailer was painful to watch. You can fake being an action star with camera shots, but you truly cannot fake knowing how to dance as easily.

John Wick 4 somehow managed to be the best of the series. Almost 3 hours long, and none of it felt like bloat. RIP Lance Reddick.

Well the first one is by far the best. The original felt more grounded with a better story and sequels are just a little too over the top for my tastes.
