it's a shame that you forget to mention Mollywood. If u need "masala" films then these are okay, if you really want good films come to malayalam films

Honestly, Kollywood industry is underrated. I agree about they produce some kind of action commercial, but they also produce variety of genre and storylines with decent budgets.
(many great tamil films went unnoticed)
Especially director's like selvaraghavan, balu mahendra, thiagaraja kumaraja, vetrimaaran, mysskin, karthik subbaraj, maari selvaraj,raam, maniratnam, balachandar are highly recommend.

You should watch some malayalam movies (Mollywood). In my opinion it has everything the other industries have but more grounded and realistic

Bro Mollywood is one of the best industries here. Heartfelt, compelling stories made on shoestring budgets. Some good films (classi & contemporary) include:
* Kireedam (1989)
* Spatikam (1994)
* Manichitrathazhu (Try saying that 3 times fast lol) (1993)
* Ramji Rao Speaking (1989)
* Chitram (1989)
* New Delhi (1987)
* Mathilukal (1990)
* Vidheyan (1994)
Now, onto contemporary:
* Kumbalangi Nights (2019)
* Pathemari (2015)
* Aadujeevitham (2024)
* Bheesma Parvam (2022)
* Bramayugam (For Hitchcock fans especially) (2024)
* Jalikattu (2019)
* Drishyam (2013)

As a cinema fanatic, I must say this video is absolutely the best in every aspect! Well researched, looks beyond the surface, the pros and the cons, excellent start with some of the best movies and understood our cinema so well, without any prejudices, even over the top and mass movies. Definitely a must watch video for anyone looking to start Indian Cinema.

The movies that comes from west bengal are also called tollywood. Recent Bengali movies are not that good but movies in 1980 to 2007 are so good. The reason is because of Satyajit ray he is a very famous director known around the world. Some of his greatest movies are from the feluda series which are 2 detective movies called 'sonar kella' and 'joy baba felunath' he also directed 'Pather Panchali' 'apur songshar' and many more classic.

Endian cinema is nothing but herogasm, softcore pornography, diarrhea causing masala. Physics defying stunts. They just bark at different languages which seems like barbaric echoes. Toilet cleaners should not have the privilege of having a cinema industry in the first place.
