Oh wow! The barrier is new. Last time I was in the Louvre was 2015. You could spend days inside the Louvre. It is massive and I encourage people to really explore the whole museum, if you have the time. I can't wait to go back to France. I still need to return my host mom's luggage that she lent me lol

Closing the Louvre or any museums is pure nonsense, as a physician with over 40 years experience ,with a degree in Public Health, and fully cognizant of the history, mythology, and various methods of simulating epidemics this is medically idiotic nonsense. But if you ever had any doubt of the power of government this is a brazen example of not only their un-limited open-ended arbitrary power but power that devolves from the propaganda of fear as embraced by the stupid, foolish , compliant, and gullible. I am in. a very large city and we are seeing this virus NOWHERE . But that is what your own eyes are telling you. The statistics are irrefutable, the incidence is extremely low , it does not warrant ANY restrictions. Take a stand against fascism , irrational fear, and ridiculous foolishness. !!

'Pandemonium' reminds me of Mordor. Have you been to the British Museum? The 'Mona Lisa' is like the 'Rosetta Stone' in the British Museum and if you're 5'1 you can forget being able to see it all with the throngs of people surrounding it. Do I sound bitter? That's just the lack of coffee talking. Sigh

Omg I’d probably get lost enjoying everything else. Probably do the Mona Lisa last or something so many pretty paintings and artifacts, statues in there. I’d be in awe and I’m be taking LOTS of photography pictures. So it probably take me all day lol that ceiling 🥰😍. Can I ask how much is it to get into museum?

wow, thank you so much Jay for showing us the Louvre, amazing! A great insight to all that is there inside such a vast museum :).. I was in Paris last May but didn't get to venture inside so this is making me want to visit Paris again.... I so hope that that will be possible soon!

Hi Jay, my main issue with France and mainly Paris is the copyright laws. Where they happy for you to film at the Louvre? did you have to buy a permit? I thought the video and photography had to be for personal use only? Another great Paris video. The Mona Lisa is bigger than I thought when I saw it, as everyone complained it was very small.

Wow, I"m a Parisian and you gave me the idea to go there. I always avoid the Louvre because it's 365/365 overcrowded, but here it looks so peaceful, probably a unique moment that will not come back soon.

One of my favorite places in Paris. One January day in 2016, I was able to find one of the quiet corners of the Louvre. I had the Salle St. Louis, before the improved cases and lighting were installed, all to myself for about 10 minutes. Touching the stone's chisel marks and getting up close to the gargoyles was unforgettable.

When I visited last Sept the Mona Lisa was near the sculpture garden, somewhere in the upper rooms (I think). Line started at the entrance underneath the pyramid so definitely didn't take a minute to get to the front of the line...but it was enjoyable.

I thought it was a John Martin even before you mentioned it. He came from a Northumberland village about 30 miles from where I live and had a unique vision, even for the Romantic era. For another apocalyptic painting of his that might inspire you, check out images of Sodom and Gomorrah, and The Bard , both kept in my local art gallery. Definitely a good time to visit the Louvre atm.

you need a biggest mask that covers up to the ridge of your nose, not only protect others, a right fitting mask will help you take in a lesser load of the virus if someone ever sneeze on you or walked through a invisible mist of droplets., just saying

Thank you for a vicarious walk thru the Louvre. If only Living in the US didn't mean being ostracized by the rest of the world due to our inability to find a way to get to the other side of the ever increasing rise of COVID cases. I love the Louvre. I have always taken it in relatively small chunks in order to simply spend time with the treasures it contains. La Jaconde is great, but only 1 of so many greats. As an art major in school and having studied Neo Stoicism in Art History, all I can say is Wow. I love so many of the art museums in Paris. And art that isn't in a museum like the Chagall in the Palais Garnier. More uncrowded museum was please!
