What Happens When Russia Leaves The ISS?

They wont build a new space station, they have no money for it. They may abandon their module but that does not matter. One thing that surprise me is that there is no backup thrusters incase the Russian once fail? Everyone knows, Russian tech is not the best out there :)

I think that people don't make tge difference between the Soviet space programm and Russian! Russian programm achieved or created almost nothing and are slowly degrading while using old Soviet tech.

No mention about Russia being the only remaining ride to the space station a year ago when this video was made.

Hearing that there are over a hundred dead laptops in the iss is just another thing that tells me nobody is going all the way to Mars anytime soon.

What would be the point of russia trying to disconnect and take their section? I cant imagine the parts are very salvageable. I wouldnt make sense to pull out like that, more trouble than leaving it.

I want to see the technology of the Russians...if it works like the last probe sent to the moon they are screwed!

Russia s unfortunately are having problems getting modern Computer Chips so will China have a Deficit and not able to get Chips! We are going to destroy the 1980’s Chip Plant in Taiwan soon! The new Chips are coming out now Thais is where AI is coming from! The very Advanced new Chip only our Military will get! The less more advanced chips are awesome ! They aren’t our best but they are advanced compared to the 1980 Chips and Perfection!

Well Russia have Stollen so many toilets from Ukraine they'll be alright with one toilet.

When I first read about ISS, it felt so good that two competing Superpower nations came together for the development of space science and humanity. All good and bad things have a beginning and end but it is surreal they worked together and as a neutral citizen of the world, I would still love them to be together. They have the best resources and knowledge. ISS may not last long but history will tell that it was the best thing to come out from humanity.

you say no way to control or raze the space station if Russia leaves. I don't know why this post is even being aired, as the answer to any problem like this is Space X... No more needs to be said......

Instead of de-orbiting the ISS, why not turn it over to the private sector, such as spacex or Bigalow, and let them sort out what is useable and what isnt?

Russia cant keep a aircraft carrier operational and they think they can construct another space station on their own with maintenance robots dancing around the station doing repairs, good luck

Imagine if when the Russian segment detaches from the “ISS” and build its own space station of of the Russian segment and then redocks to the “iss”

NASA should be making replacement modules for replacing the Russians part of the station

If Musk can get his act together, the big booster should be able to get much larger sections into orbit making the next station larger and more modern, and with many fewer connections, seals, wiring......
