Total War Saga TROY Impressions - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

spinning main menu and graphics settings not saving was an easy refund decision for me.

A little over a year later and Troy is effectively dead . One of the most recognizable, oldest, and epic stories ever told made into a lame, forgettable, cheap game. Everything he pointed out in this video wasn't really adjusted in any meaningful way. The same problems remain and despite the mythos expansion, the game is still like a cheap imitation of a TW game. It's sad, really.

The slingers don't do any damage to other slingers. Looked all over the internet to see if anyone else noticed this problem, but can't find anything. I had 4 units of slingers firing on 1 unit of enemy slingers & they didn't take a single loss... & after reading these comments i'll say that Warhammer II battles were disappointing. I think they got the game right with Rome II, even though I know it had to update a lot to get to its current state, but I bought it late when it was already fixed... Lucky I got TW: Troy for free on Epic Games.

This could have been a super fun total war/Age of Mythology game, love that old game

Once again it's BS ! Maybe the MOD community can make something of it... start with throwing away the stupid magic for children.

This game is great, but there is a huge glaring dumb flaw. Playing as Menelaus, my allies keep making PEACE with TROY. The whole point of the game is to have a big massive fight against Troy as a Greek alliance vs a Trojan alliance, but Agammemnon and Odysseus keep dishonoring my alliance and making peace with Troy behind my back???

I really hate the bright blue arrow trail it looks so stupid and takes you out of the immersion, it there a way to turn t off?

Meh. This looks like the next CA game I'm not even going to bother watching YT vids of. My god, this is going to be bland. Sitting on the fence on historical accuracy vs. fantasy elements doesn't do the game any favors at all.
That said, thank you very much for the in-depth discussion! Good video, even if it's the last I'm going to watch of this Troy crap.

i would have much rather them gone with an "Age of Mythology" approach with this game. They already have the rome series for a more "historical" game in this type of setting. ive not played it yet but this game seems like a copy paste of rome with a few updated mechanics. maybe ill be wrong and like it but i feel after playing the warhammer total war games its got a lot to live up to.

It looked like Both Armies were reduced to atoms at the end, there dosen't seem to be any major victory potential for a Faction.

battles look so crap. Is making proper animations and collision beneath you CA?

My dude it's okay to say this game was a piece of crap, I know you get early access and your all buddy buddy with CA but come on. This game when I first saw the trailer I thought I was seeing some old windows 7 era slash game boy game, this has got to be the ugliest, laziest, most fucked game I have every seen in the total war series. How you manage to praise it is beyond me, but there still working on it guys, don't give up hope guys, give me a break the only game CA has made in the past entire decade that was somewhat decent was thrones. Their company has changed, they're not the company anymore that made shogun 2, medieval 2, and rome 1, they are now sellouts who don't give a damn about their audience and let China buy them up I spit in their general direction, no wonder Apollo quite total war.

They should just stick to fantasy games at this point.

The graphics still look pretty much the same as Rome 2, that game came out 7 years ago. Also I hate the missile animation, it looks really dumb.
Attila is the last Total War game I bought, don't think I'll buy this one either.

The OST/music in the background is so damn familiar but cant remember what game.... o_0

They 100% should have gone all in on the mythological opportunities. Ancient Greece/Troy is fuckin perfect for it

I think they should have either pure historical or pure myth. The compromise we are seeing just feels boring to me. I wish they had gone for the pure myth especially for this setting.

Will they have a historical mode similar to 3K? I love the idea of stripping out all these arcade feeling features.

Yeah basically what Im hearing from you Indy is that fantasy Warhammer has ruined historical for you like so many others. Pretty much now your just gonna have the history buffs playing the historical titles, although I would get in on a Medieval 3 or Empire 2 or something, pretty much all those types of titles will be for niche crowds now.

What type of engine this has Attila's/Thrones of Britannia or 3 Kingdoms or a new one??

the trojan armor design/art style is disgusting. I dislike it quite a bit. Greeks arent too terrible but still not great, I a stickler for historical accuracy in these kinds of games so i probably wont pick this one up unless its got excellent gameplay.
