I had exact same problem. There is a Reset button right under the switch. It’s on the left side. HOLD the button till you hear a CLICK. Mine took about 15 seconds to get the click. Yours may take longer. After that go to your Kasa App and click on your setting a new switch. Pick your style switch and follow app. You will need to go to your WiFi settings and choose the TP Link. Note : I tried many times to reset my switch. It didn’t work till I held it in long enough to hear a CLICK.

Good luck. Hope you get it working.

This video could have been less than 20 seconds. Spoiler: there's a hidden button under the main button to the left. Hold it.

My switch is having the same issue, none of these methods in the comments fixed it. I decided to delete and set it up in the app, but once it is removed, the app could not find it anymore. I think it just stops working in my case. Only used it for three months, very disappointed

Here is the solution to fix the switch. half of switches in my house were like in your video and they were all fixed.

Reset it by hold the button on the back right for few seconds then release it. Press and hold the left button for few seconds (8 to 10 seconds) until you see the green and orange led flashing. Go to your app on phone or tablet, open KASA, add device (top right)-switch-HS200-connect to wifi-reset-rename-update-done.

For those, who used HS200 for three-way switch(one or two switches are OK). same steps but when you choose your switch, pick HS210 instead of HS200. follows same steps and done.

A slightly different issue. I'm wired up (power) and have WiFi (green) but the HS200 won't send power the the light either manually or by remote. I'm sending mine back.

This happened with one of my switches this week. Hit the reset button on the bottom left of the toggle and it went to detect. Added new device (without removing the prior install, and named it the same - associated it with the room - and now it works . . . and no duplicate.

I have the same issue and was thinking about swapping it out with another one from Kasa but I think I will get a Zigbee switch instead as I suspect my light switch does not have a clear signal to the router. Zigbee can work as a repeater with other zigbee devices and provides a mesh type network as I understand it.

I found that if you have a VPN installed on your router, the switch will not reconnect to your network after an update. Te fellow who set up a separate SSID for the switch was likely bypassing a VPN installed on his router.

Had the same issue. Was this way for months. Missed the window for a return. Bought a Leviton dimmer instead and replaced. More expensive but over 100 years of engineering. Works like it should. There is a reason things are less expensive. Go with a known company with experience.

Try resetting the router. That often times fixes mine without doing anything further.

For the record, 5 GHZ signal does not penetrate walls as good as 2.4 does, which is why most those devices only use 2.4ghz. 5 ghz is faster, but the switches and things don't much care about speed that much.

Did you connect it to 2.4ghz network? For some reason 5ghz causes problems.

Hi! I had this problem before so what I did is to make another SSID just for the 2.4Ghz. Somehow it’s been working well after that.

Any fix to this yet? Have not been able to fix it on my HS220 either. Deleting it from router did not work either under disconnected devices.

I have the same switch, experienced the same challenge, and consider myself a technical person:). Appears you have performed all the basic troubleshooting steps, however I suggest stepping down a more advanced path.

Take a look at your router. I suspect you have app of some sort and/or a way to interact with your router. If so, look at the connected devices and locate the switch. Since the switch is not connected, you will see it in the disconnect pool/group … try to block it and unblock it a minute later > perform a soft reset on the switch (quickly hit the reset button). If that does not work, try to delete the device from router (similar to blocking but look for a delete option). Once deleted, try to soft reset again.

Hope this helps!:)
