As someone who has researched these cars to death and owned a couple of them, I feel qualified to add some useful extra info. Zoes are awesome but, as you pointed out, a bit of a minefield to get the car you want. Early cars have 'Q' and 'R' motors which is where the charging speed difference comes in. Q motors can charge at 43kW AC, a system that might be going the way of Chademo, though you'll still find 22kW AC outlets in abundance.... which is the maximum rate that the 'R' motors charge at. Perhaps it won't make much difference which one you get now, but the 'R' motors are supposed to be more efficient.
I currently have a 30kWh Kia Soul. You showed these and mentioned the 95 mile range of the earlier 27kWh model. Based on what I get, you will get more, it is one of the most efficient EVs this side of an Ionic 28 (or 38kWh which you didn't mention) or the i3 which is very good too. The thing that makes mine more useful than most of these cars is the 100kW charging which came in with the 30kWh model. It really is worth having. The potential downside is the same as the Leaf, Chademo charging. They are rarer than CCS and they tend to come as one or two token outlets out of several CCS ones. The other reason this can be bad news is that if it is on a charger with dual cables, you are more likely to find it in use via the CCS. I've never been left stranded though, so not all bad.
There are many others that you didn't have time to mention, E-Golfs, Mitsubishi I-mievs and their Citroen and Peugeot sisters, Smart for 2 and 4 - tiny batteries though! Renault Fluence - guaranteed to be battery lease but even then, a potential bargain as it won't be too much to buy. (I bought my 22kWh Zoe battery about three years ago for 2200 pounds. I'm certain a Fluence would be less as they are older). A Renault Twizy with optional doors, and a few van/van with windows such as Renault Berlingo and Nissan NV200. I believe the NV200, or at least some versions, even get battery thermal management, so a much better bet than an early Leaf. There was a Mercedes B SUV with around 28kWh battery but it couldn't rapid charge for some strange reason. There were even more rare creatures like a Ford Focus but I don't think I've ever seen a used one for sale. Perhaps they never actually sold any!
The best used EV to buy would be none.
Ответитьused small cheap EV suit a few, where they do a only a few miles.
ОтветитьBut why do they have to be so Ugly.
Ответить2021 seat wii electric just purchased for 11k a lot cheaper than stated in this video!
ОтветитьWe have 10 chadamo (nissan leaf) public chargers on the same road and nobody's using them. I think it terrible we have no type 2 AC chargers even thought the nissan leaf can use a type 2. The problem is short range, no ac chargers high insurance cost and 78p charging is not saving is any money now when you need a second car with tax and insurance for long runs
Ответитьioniq >> the rest
ОтветитьThere aren't any
Ответитьlefty showing his true woke side… ruining Twitter lol..
ОтветитьJag you R
Ответить😂😂😂 Elon musk did not invent the Tesla
ОтветитьCorrection Toyota Prius started it all
ОтветитьEven bigger bargains to be had since this video was uploaded!
ОтветитьFor the BMW i3, The REX cannot charge the battery itself, just used to maintain current charge.
An electric car channel should know that
I really wish there was EV's on the market like those old Suzuki Carry's and Subaru E12's all of these things are just completely useless for everyday use for me. All i would need is cheap little van with atleast 100 miles range with just basic tech no need to cram it up with all the expensive tech.
Ответитьsurprised to see you recommending first gen Model S, given how many of them seem to have battery problems.
ОтветитьAppreciate the review of EVs, but keep your political perspective out of it. Musk has saved Twitter and committed it to free speech. Maybe for a Labor voter who believes what he reads in the Guardian, I am sure you will have a well entrenched opinion. But leave me out of it when I am looking for EV reviews.
ОтветитьTalk too much !
ОтветитьYou can buy a kona ev for £20000 WITH relatively small mileage
Ответитьso bad... with those stupid comments and personal opinions that you really SHOULD keep private... it would also worked better if you didn't love every car and just simply said goods and bads about them all, dont believe theyre all so awesome
ОтветитьBuying a used electric car is economic suicide. You are buying a used battery. If 8 out of 10 bars left on the battery doesn't get you the distance you need to go in a day you then get to buy a new battery for the nearly the price of a car. It's not a device you can deplete the battery before buying new.
ОтветитьOnce they let China sell cars in other countries it'll be over.
Ответитьmy 2015 i3 rex has had REALLY bad range degredation. 80 miles a charge down to 40-50 after 40k miles
ОтветитьOld tesla ( with free supercharging) can't do any autonomous driving right?
ОтветитьJust brought a 2019 ioniq here in new zealand, cant wait to get into it
ОтветитьExpensive and waiting time is killing us. Here in Bulgaria some brands have 12 months waiting period for delivery, I don't think you can find anything with less than 6 months waiting time!
ОтветитьNo MG4 in the mix???
ОтветитьYou are the absolute best one to listen to coming to EVs! Entertaining with down to earth approach. Love it!
ОтветитьSo when do the new power plants come online to deal with the increased demand that you want?
ОтветитьF off you anti-musk jerk!
ОтветитьAs someone who has to soon buy new car EVs sound good but I dont find a way to justify to using 10k+ for used car. I can buy 2 used gas cars with that price.
My current car is 500euros if I sell it, but only costs outside of taxes, insurance and gas are 2 rust fixes and door lock fix totaling maybe 5k in 10 years.
And considering my daily commute can be anything from 20km a day to 150km a day those EVs with range under 200km scare me.
What is also grand about the Zoe is if you crash you are almost guaranteed to die or be tube fed for the rest of your life. Since 2017 the car has 0 stars from EURO NCAP.
ОтветитьI just part exchanged my KIA E-Niro for £25.5K
ОтветитьHaha this is 2023, for 30k, you can get a brand new full spec Aptera... that vehicle just makes sence
ОтветитьRuining Twitter? What a silly comment 🤔
ОтветитьWhy did you have to mention twitter being ruined, BBC are fake news
ОтветитьSimple answer….none.
ОтветитьLeaf "oldest and cheapest"? You've overlooked the Mitsubishi i-Miev and its Peugeot / Citroen clones.
ОтветитьYou shouldn't be recommending the Zoe without mentioning that it scored zero in its Euro NCAP safety rating
ОтветитьIf EV's last longer because they have less moving parts, will they have to think more about the upholstery and interiors and how they last?
Is there money to make in refurbing the older EVs and swapping batteries or seats?
Jake, Unfortunately some countries, no incentives for private people, only companies. As per your trip to OSLO, Politicians in PL do not think alike , compared with Norway, Denmark, Finland, maybe Sweden
ОтветитьBuilding terminators and ruining twitter????I am her to hear about cars not your woke political views. Unsubbed!
ОтветитьEVs aren't expensive we are underpaid.
Ответитьprices need to get alot lot better
ОтветитьYup a bunch of expensive junk
ОтветитьReally loved your analysis of the Jaguar "strategy" :D
ОтветитьMy average journey is 150 miles… I do it twice a week and do not have a charger at the destination. I do a monthly 350 mile drive. Don’t drive other than that. Guess electric cars just aren’t for me :)
ОтветитьLove my e-Up. Glad to know it is worth what I paid for it new :-)
ОтветитьDoes anyone buy new cars anymore? Arnt they all on pcp or lease? 😂
Ответить
