Has anyone ever heard any pedal sound bad that Andy demos? I could throw together a some left over components into a stompbox housing, and Andy would make it sound good.

Sounds better than my Headrush. Love this pedal. Small enough to put on my pedalboard with all my analog pedals. Game changer!

Could you use this with a helix floor? If so, what would be the benefit?

I am very intrigued by this modeler with its tweaks and effects. But I've not yet heard it live. But I suspect that the technology is only going to get better and better. Which begs the question - will not just a cabinet be necessary in the future? I mean, if you can closely simulate so many classic amps with so many adjustable parameters to them - will amps become obsolete - ESPECIALLY as the price point on this unit is ridiculously affordable, considering what it's capable of producing tonally. AND it's so portable and lightweight. The other question I have - how can they legally sample or reproduce other manufacturers amps and equipment. This doesn't sound like a mere toy to me!

Is there something I have to switch inside of the unit, like say I would want to use that with my amp for one gig then for another one where they don't want any amps onstage I could go straight into the PA

When you say you can plug it into the front of your guitar amp. Do you just mean the input jack? I have a combo amp, so i can't separate the amp and speaker. Haven't seen an explanation of this after watching many tonex videos.

Why isn't there an FX loop built-in?

Cabinet modelling using IR is the bomb! I have found I don't have to EQ every patch or mess with the global EQ if I select the right cabinet. I don't like overly bright sounds so I use a Mesa 4x12. I've used the real thing in a rehearsal studio we used to use and that was ALWAYS my go-to cab. At the time I was playing through a THD Plexi-50 but either way, it really tames the harsh highs without having to EQ them out! IRs are the way to go.

First let me say this. Amplitube 4 is what I use for recording and playing at home. Been using it since it was released and still love it. However I must say the sound I heard in this video sounded like crap to my ears.

Does the tonex work if i connect it directly to a cabinet and then mic the cabinet? i mean without using any kind of amp.
Asking since I don't have an amp and thinking about a rehearsal or live situation, does this setting works? guitar to tonex pedal to cab (for rehersal) and then mic the cab (live)...

What kind of idiot makes a portable amp with no effects loop. WTF are you thinking, BIASAmp, JampUP and many more have an effects loop. why would you bother with this? Even for the price I can get the same thing with any effects loop.

The only thing holding me back on this is no XLR output. I can live with no effects loop, but I find myself playing front of house more and more... I realize I can do a 1/4" to XLR or an adapter, but to me it's just not the same.

sounds too artificial for my taste! I believe they have equipment in the same price range that deliver much more than he does, anyway, the video is very enlightening!

Hi, i applogize but i’m very new in the world of pedal and particulary for ToneX.

Can you tell me what i need to make this work ?
I’m common with real amp but not pedal like this.
Do i need a PA (any ref?) in stereo + specific cab to optimize the cab simulation ? Or my blackstar cab with a little PA is enough. It’s what i understood from other videos.

I can always tell what Andy thinks of a pedal by the expressions on his face, he's not impressed by what I'm seeing. I have yet to hear anything out of this pedal that would interest me into swapping my current setup! My Pod Go sounds way better, and I never even use it!

Conclusion?
The presets are AWFUL.
Only sonic drive studio has a good sound through this pedal, but he's using a capture of one of his amps.
I'll never understand why presets from the manufacturers of these things are never any good.

Nope nope nope more realistic amp bull. Tube amps are still king. Plenty of smaller tube heads now and colour your tone with eq compression pedals etc. I can hear the weak dynamics. Dont he fooled.

Has anyone experienced “control lack” when using the Tonex software? The modeled sounds are bassy and the eq controls do very little.
