I have to play without dying because when loading a game it crashes instantly. Best experience for a tryhard like me

thanks for this. so basicaly it is NOT required, just preferable. I been loving balders with my bud, but starfield is apparently unplayable without SSD and my SSD cannot fit both. I was scared I had to pick or spend a ton on more SSD space. ty so much for reassuring this isnt the case.

There is also a loading time difference between Dx11 and Vulkan. Vulkan takes more time to load assets from the drive. Dx11 does more of the work at time of rendering.

Loading also has CPU involved, the i5-6500 was probably bottlenecking the SSDs IMO.

i was wondering about that too cuz i read the description on steam .Ok it's not needed but lower the loading time a lil on the HD. it will charge everything in the ram like old game used to do . I think the refresh of the old scenes is faster because the assets are still in the ram when you return back so longer charging time first time but smoother after .

I still think that a bigger nvme storage is nice to have and they are crazy cheap lately . I think i would buy one just avoid ssd sata cuz it's a dumb move to use that one you can also buy a expansion card to put more nvme in your pc even if you have only one slot . Nvme often have the same price as the ssd .

from what i notice, there is 0 reason of putting this game on ssd, i have very fast internet so it took me no problem of downloading it thee times, first time i put the game on HDD loadings quite slow, about 35-40 seconds. And i wanted to savescum faster, so i took time and redownloaded the game on my SSD, removing everything from it first, 150gb is no joke. I got 0 difference... Game does not benefit from ssd at all. And i can say that i have quite good ssd, im loading in windows in about 3 minutes, in compare to 7-9 from my hdd, and im loading into a game of Tarkov in 3-4 minutes, in compare to never loading from my HDD...

I'm on a GTX 1650 and i59300H playing on low/medium with HDD and while fps is 60+ in dungeons or less cluttered areas, it stutters quite a bit in certain locations such as Baldur's Gate but it is not unplayable, even though it goes down to 20s at times. Slow HDD mode doesn't help in my instance since I have a 4GB card and I was wondering if a SSD could help with the performance not with fps but the stuttering anyway.

If I installed bg3 in HDD 1TB 7200 rpm

But I have NVME SSD with free space about 120 GB (remains from windows installation)

Does it count as I play this game on ssd?
Should I upgrade another SSD drive for 250GB game size or any suggestions?

P.S. I have laptop with I7-6700
GTX1060 6GB Ram DDR4 16GB
SSD 250GB(free 120GB)
HDD 1TB

Thank you in advance

I wonder if there's a reason they don't asynchronously load the next scene if they're closing in on a position where the next scene is triggered. Maybe the scenes are so huge it would kill RAM usage. They used to do that in a lot of old games, that is why they sometimes don't have any loading screens. Also done in open world games like Assassin's Creed and Elden Ring.

I started on a HDD, I checked Slow Mode, and running on max settings, I actually had no issues. To be fair I have a RTX2060, a i5-9400f, 32G ram, a 2Tb HDD, my C drive SSD is used for Widows 10 only plus a fiber optic internet running at about 980Mbps down and 870Mbps up, ping 1 or less, my screen refreshes at 140, to top it off I live in Ukraine so that is a touchy path to get in and out.

But I went ahead and installed a 1Tb SSD anyway and moved BG3(Steam) files from HDD to the SSD ... on BG3 I think I may have saved maybe 1 to 2 seconds on loading screens. Game play may or may not be smoother as I really had no issues during game play anyway. So do you need a SSD? Well, maybe, depending on your system, did I need it? Well, maybe, but I got one anyway ... just because and hell my wife didn't know 🤣. Saving a couple seconds is not going to make my life any better and lets face it, if you are worried about 1-2 seconds of your time then maybe you need to need to do something else other than play video games.
