What electric screwdriver is the one your using Jay pretty neat. Would appreciate it, what is the name of the electric screwdriver?
Ответитьyou guys never put a m.2, that plate at the bottom is for the audio
ОтветитьMan. I'd want a glass backed case to display the backside of that motherboard. 😌
ОтветитьI wish I saw this before I worked on my first build. I am currently dealing with trying to troubleshoot what is wrong after spending hours for days on it. I am loosing hope at my building skills, but maybe it’s just that my new motherboard is DOA.
ОтветитьI watched 13 minutes of this just trying to find out how to use the screwdriver technique to power the MB and Jay has a power button haha...
ОтветитьAs a poor home consumer, we often don't have parts to swap out and narrow down the culprit. These sellers also have a very small return window. Do you recommend sending back an entire order when you can't get your parts to boot? Is the seller, B&H in my case, going to charge me shipping and tell me I sent back non defective parts, if I can't narrow down to bad part? I only ask, because I just spend 20 hours trying to get my new build to boot and I get no video, green LED, code A1, no matter what I try, including the flash BIOS button, with my MSI carbon wifi z790, 13900k, RM1000x 1000W 80 PLUS Gold Modular Power Supply, 64GB Desktop DDR5 5200 MHz UDIMM Memory Kit (2 x 3), T700 1TB PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD, and 4070TI, etc. I hate to sit on $3000 and worry about getting stuck with the bill. I don't even have a job right now and need a PC to get a job.
ОтветитьWondering if he actually burned/snapped the motherboard due to Gas mats being out of stock and because he had to use a box..
ОтветитьHi Jay. I dig your videos man. You are helping me a lot. I just found you this week and
I am building my first system from the ground up. The last custom build I did was 13 years ago and I had a local shop bring in the parts and do the build for me. That being said, I have done the routine maintenance on that build all this time. (New thermal paste, troubleshooting every few years, etc)
Anyway. after 13 years my ROG RAMPAGE GENE II did not make it through a negative electrical event and I decided to build a new system. I looked for a video tutorial much like this one when I started and didn't find this at the time.
I wish I had.
I haven't tested the system yet because I am still working through hooking everything to the motherboard, but I am certainly at that cable managed and pretty state without anything tested. lol
Fingers crossed.
Anyway, thanks for your videos. I subscribed. 👍
What a great experience for a new builder like me to witness a veteran builder go through troubleshooting like that. Such a valuable and informative video. Starting my first build later this week, thanks Jay!
ОтветитьMy PC did nothing when I test booted it 😅😭
ОтветитьMines all put together, amd does the same thing. Lesson learned
ОтветитьJay the best
ОтветитьWhat a great video! I am so happy it turned into a full trouble shooting video! The Lord clearly was helping make good content!
ОтветитьI'm thinking of getting a large cooler that could make it necessary to install the heat sink & cooler after placing the board into the tower. How do you benchtest in such a situation?
ОтветитьThe cmos is it only for AMD or both for intel as well as AMD?
ОтветитьAnd I don’t live anywhere that’s even in my state for micro center.🤬
ОтветитьDude thank you so much!!
I was re applying thermal paste because tbh i never changed it since I built this pc.
When i went to take the water block off it ripped the cpu right out of the socket with the cpu still attached to it. I had to pry the cpu off the cooler when i did it went flying in my case.
I thought my cpu was a goner. Again thank you!!❤
I know this is an old video however, I'm having issues with a build i'm trying to put together. Ryzen 5500 cpu and rog strix b550a mb. I plug everything onto the MB, and get no cpu power. I've double triple quadruple checked plugs looked at the MB guide over and over while reseating everything and making sure it's all plugged in properly. I've tested the PSU bridging the power to get it to fire up and it does. I've even held the bios reset button on but i'm not sure it's actually doing anything as the MB has no rgb nor does the Ram. There's power going to stuff as the fault light on the mb next to the 8pin plug comes on until i plug that one in. I made sure no cpu pins were bent, it was locked in place before the fan was screwed on also. What, if anything, can I do?? I just got a replacement board and still nothing has changed...
ОтветитьMotherboard
CPU
Cooler
Power Supply
Monitor
HDMI cable
Power Cables
RAM
I loved this video you guys have as much luck as I do
ОтветитьGood job Jayz, quite detailed, might if I ask what brand of screwdriver you're using, I need a reliable one, and you're the expert, thank you.
ОтветитьImagine testing everything first and everything works then you put it all together and then it doesn’t that would suck the most😢
ОтветитьUse a linux live usb stick for a quick test no ssd required.Conductive anti-static bags are manufactured with a layer of conductive metal, often aluminum, and a dielectric layer of plastic covered in a static dissipative coating. This forms both a shield and a non-conductive barrier, shielding the contents from static charge via the Faraday cage effect.
ОтветитьAtta be Jay. 3 years later, just as useful. Evergreen video bud.
ОтветитьHow he turn on the pc
Ответитьi just refunded a DOA brand spanking new boxed intel CPU, jesus christ what a fcking hassle.
it happens even if the odds are <1%. it will happen to someone somewhere sooner or later. me and my rotten luck.
Is it safe to plug 16 pin to 16 pin 12vhpwr from msi mpg 850w g to msi 4070 ti ventus
ОтветитьHi Jay I have a Asus x570 gaming plus wifi and I cant get it to work with 4 dims I did all the A+ stuff (lol A+) but nothing I tested the memory in another machine and it works also at first it didnt work with the dims in the A2 B2 config but I cleared cmos started back again with 1 stick until i could post went to bios and set memory to 2166mhz any idea what i can do
ОтветитьI am dealing with the same issue here! Surely a nightmare.. 😢😢 i have to wait a week to have a new motherboard. Went through all what you did to test it. From ram to bios.. man it’s a headache.. thank you for doing this for us new pc builders
ОтветитьPlugged everything in and no signal or anything. I don't know if psu is defective or what's wrong
ОтветитьI am currently doing a new build and have a test bench set up. Found this video cuz I wasn't sure if I could turn it on to check part function and bios/cpu compatibility stuff without drives installed. I'm going to be swapping the OS drive in my current setup into the new one. Been trying to do research on OS drive swapping and haven't really gotten far. Wanting to make sure everything is working and the bios & cpu are happy. Using a previous gen cpu to check bios and do an update if necessary before installing the new cpu.
ОтветитьI built my pc up and found that there was zero power when I flipped the PSU switch. I stripped all the pc down again and I done the exact same setup that is shown here, and still zero power?! I have done paperclip test on the PSU and the fan started going. Any ideas why there's zero power?
Ответитьthis video just scared the shit outta me , I built my whole computer because my cpu was on back order. I hope i don't have issues like this, so nervous
ОтветитьThanks. I have one last part I'm waiting on for a new build, then I'll DEFINATELY be doing this! I switched careers about 16 years ago, so I've been out of the loop for a while! What you're doing is a great tip for consumers at home.
ОтветитьShould I reapply fresh thermal paste to the CPU after this test setup is done or can I leave it as is?
ОтветитьI got all my parts but no post i5 12600K and DDR4 Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X . What do the red lights on CPU DRAM VGA BOOT mean. I'm not getting any beeps. Stripping the mobo down to cpu & 1 stick of ram see if I get a signal on the monitor?
Ответитьwould any motherboard at least power up with ONLY a PSU? will it show any codes or lights or do nothing? do you need a CPU at least?
ОтветитьTurn bag inside out
ОтветитьSeveral people would like to get computer parts for their wives. They would probably want top-of-the-line parts in some instances.
ОтветитьThis is a very, very good video. I spent the day before thanksgiving troubleshooting just like this except not really sure what i was doing was even right. Worked out in the end thankfully. Yeah this is the not so fun side of pc building but at the same time it is.
Ответитьgoing to be bench testing components in another day or two. Waiting for the 4 RAM sticks and the thermal paste. I dont have "spare parts" available in the event of a non-post. CPU from Ebay, some parts from Newegg, some from Amazon. How do I determine, in the event of an issue and since its AMD 5800X3D w/o onboard graphics...if the issue is MB, CPU, graphics card? The MB is an NZXT N7B550 so it does have BIOS flashback. If need be I can do that. But assuming an issue beyond that...how does one tell?
ОтветитьI can’t even get my pc to even power up for bios… the passive power all turns on but nothing after that. I tried 3 motherboards, tested psu, singled out my memory sticks, nothing. I took my cpu out to clean and replace my thermal paste then nothing works after that. Help please!
ОтветитьGood idea indeed. Just buy multiple expensive memory kits, cpus and motherboards and bench test before you put together your pc 😅
ОтветитьOr if you are crazy like me I have a antistatic pad that i use for bench testing :P
ОтветитьWait, so my motherboard lights up and updates bios and looks for OS but still no display, so my issue is CPU?
Ответитьwhat if we do not have a start button? what do we do to start to see if the board lights work?
ОтветитьBRO THE CPU PART IS SO HELPFUL
ОтветитьDo you need that fan on the cpu for testing ??
Ответить
