George RR Martin on Elden Ring

Elden Ring is the most beautifull and stunning game I have ever played in my life and I started back in the day in 1994 with gaming. Im totaly honest too say the guys behind this deserve a Nobel price. I still cant grasp how amazing it all is. Thank you so much for this piece of art.

Such a terrible writer

The story did have an epic setup to it and there were moments of epicness like the way the game built up the legends around Radahn and Malenia, which had the character excited to fight them, but as a whole, the story was a jumbled mess. You could definitely tell that the background for the story, the characters and the setup were created by someone who had a mind for that sort of thing, but then it was put together and "ended" by someone who didn't have a mind for that sort of thing.

Most of the questions the player had and wanted to know the answers to from the story, were left unanswered, leaving players to come up with their own fan fiction to answer these questions. The game definitely would have benefitted from a fleshed out in game lore journal that expanded as the player progressed, to help fill in all the blanks.

Another big problem with the story was the games obession with having characters you cared about commit suicide. The conclusion of Millicents questline was a good example of this, where she is very excited to meet her mother but then commits suicide out of the blue for no reason whatsoever, right down the hall from the room her mother was in lol. While some of them would die for good, others would later reappear, without the game ever establishing who is immortal and who is not.

I kinda want FromSoft to make a game where all NPCs seem like they would die but actually dont, essentially probably putting the players at the edge of their seats.

Honestly, matching from software bleak and dark writing GRRM's penchant for very human things like killing, torturing, and whatnot, this is a match made in heaven, and the game's excellent because of it

I thought, it was heavely inspired by Berserk. The five Elden Lords= Five Gods, the symolisim of grave swords. The spritual demention. The sad life of Guts. Do you want me to go on?

The fat man has more than made up for his botched snail pace of writing Game of Thrones resulting in a horrific final season of an otherwise epic TV show by contributing to this generational GOAT level video game. Job well done.

To be honest I'm tired of GRRM, his big build ups and crappy end play. i'M STILL REELING OVER GOT. What an abysmal letdown. Hey George have you finished "Winds of Whatever"? Don't bother the end like most things you touch is shite.

I thought it was a spiritual successor to Dark Souls not necessarily a sequel and since when was it called THE Elden Ring? It's little details like that that as a writer you should definitely pay attention to.

the man is a terrible writer. he fooled low iq people by killing off main characters so people thought he was capable of writing twists...until there were no more to kill off and he actually had to finish the story, but it turned out he didn't have anything interesting to offer.

Elden Ring is not a sequel, prequel, series spin-off or similar extension of the Dark Souls franchise at all, but yeah sure Martin.
