as sad as it is, miles wasn't really SUPPOSED to meet any of his friends. nome of them are SUPPOSED to leave their own realities. that's why the spider-society was founded, to track down anomalies/those that don't belong and put them where they go (that can spark a whole other debate with miguel's intentions, but that's not the point here). i get the pain of being abandoned all too well, but i think why they never visited was because they were never supposed to meet in the first place, and are trying to lessen ties and their impacts to realities that aren't their own.

In Into The Spider Verse in a chat with Miles having with his teacher over his failed exam we learnt that he is a smart guy but his path towards to painting and art not science and physics.

yes I was amazed that Miles wanted to study quantum physics to go back to see his friends Gwen and Peter, but I also found it sad to see him draw his friends a lot in his notebook, because he missed them.. Art is the best way to capture feelings, and more to memories and persons that you don't want to forget, I also did the same.. I can imagine how he felt: broken and without dreams; when he found out his friends didn't tell him the truth and that's why they never went to see him
