Thank you for the summary. I recommend turning the simulator sounds down or even off as the engine sound gets a bit annoying after a while.

I'll wait for the $35 777-200 to appear 😊 like the 737-600. I've don't like models to be too similar to each other so I'd also get the 777X when it comes out.

I think they should build the 757X I have designed. If Boeing won't build it, I think PMDG should. I could be the second variant they release after they release the 757-200.

787 is the secret project. I’m calling it!

I’m merely speculating. PMDG may have taken over QualityWing’s 787 project after being abandoned.

The one thing I did not like was the slightly 'holier-than-thou' attitude that PMDG takes. No idea why they do not respect others. Condescending and even smirking at some of the questions.
Everyone deserves respect - even non-pilots lol.
But your video's a nice summary as always - thank you!

I bet you they will release the 777, 737 max 747, 777X and 787 before they figure out RF legs... we need some real boeing competition to get PMDG back on their toes and away from the cash grab business model they have here in MSFS

Trying to get any idea when any developer releases anything now is waste of time. DCS modules delayed 😂 maybe this comes out in few months. I’ve taken the view I believe something when it goes up for sale. Nothing personal on PMDG just whole thing in all sims is getting tiresome now. Thx for the video looking forward to 777 whenever it turns up

Do you have plans to make a similar series to how to fly the 777 as you did for the 737. The 737 tutorial series was the best way to learn the plane and how to handle it, and since I have no knowledge of the 777, that would be a life saver. I'm anyway going to buy it at launch, Just having a reputable, well explained tutorial helps alot

So you think that unlike the previous 700 and 800, the 777 freight version will be a separate purchase from the pax version? Or will the freight version just be included with the pax version at a later date?

While I'm excited about the 777, I'm super excited for the UFT features to filter down to the NG's. Crossing my fingers for the 78x as well. It's my favorite plane, and as much as I do enjoy the Horizon/Kuro versions, a high-fidelity version would be great.

Still waiting for a serious flight-sim YT channel to ask Rob about the PMDG pricing model.
I paid for the PMDG 737 for FS2004. Then I paid for it again in FSX. And paid for the 777.
Then P3DV1 came around, and yep, I paid for both again.
P3DV4, same story.
When they introduced it for P3DV5, I swore I'd never buy another PMDG product again.

I'm fine with a software company asking for money for an upgrade. Totally fair. Takes time and programmers to go from one sim to another.
Back in the FSX-to-P3D days, I was happy to pay Aerosoft £10 for an upgrade for their Airbus. And the CRJ.
PMDG however, charges owners of previous models the same as new customers.
Despite of all the 3D modelling already being done, and despite the fact that 90% of the internal programming remained the same.
$100 for an upgrade from P3DV4 to P3DV5......
While it was an upgrade, P3DV4 to P3DV5 made very few changes, and all of them were graphical/cosmetic.
Didn't change the flight-model, nor the physics, nor the internal programming re. FMC and the like.
Don't even try to tell me that it would cost the company the same as recreating a brand new plane from the ground up.
But if you wanted to fly a PMDG, you had to pay the price for a completely new plane.

PMDG has ridden the reputation wave for far too long.
Are their products good? Yes. No question.
Are they better than e.g. FBW and HorizonSim? Yeeess..... But it's getting closer
Are they good enough to warrant paying full price for every new advance in the sim?
Nope. Not even close.
And make no mistake, once FS2024 hits, they'll charge full price again.

Here endeth the rant

@FinlandGuy747
@FinlandGuy747 - 21.03.2024 20:55

We gotta remember that there is a lot of flight simmers who just search through the MSFS Marketplace and sees a 737 or 777 and immediately buys it to just mess around in the sim. They propably won't invest their money in a 737 classic if they already have the NG version.

My hope with the 777 is that the devs can trick the sim into connecting jetways to the L2 door rather than the L1 door. Similar to how the headwind A330-900 does it. We all know sdk limitations do not allow us to control the jetways precisely but Headwind devs found a solution around this problem.

My two cents... I wonder if the data showing the preference for modern airliner use is a bit skewed because the high fidelity study-level stuff tends to be modern airliners. The A300 seems decent for example, but based on my experience with the XP version, it is not quite PMDG/Fenix level of fidelity. Personality, I will fly whatever I feel is the closest possible to the real deal, whether that's a 707 or MD-80... if there were more study level classics available, I would split my time across all, so I wonder how much that factors in to the overall community... especially for the VATSIMers.

What is the difference in the numbering of Boeing aircraft within the type e.g. 777-2Z9(ER) and 777-2Q8(ER). Does this number depend on the company that is or was flying the plane as the first customer and does each customer get his own number? I also saw this within the 737-800s.

Ответить
@N620AA
@N620AA - 22.03.2024 02:03

Regarding the popularity of certain aircraft... metrics like Simbrief or VATSIM numbers probably aren't representative of potential sales. I fly 737's and A320's for the most part, for instance, with occasional MD-80/A300 stuff... but only because I'm not about to reinstall X-Plane to fly other aircraft I own, and I'm not rich enough to keep up with scenery or utilities for two simulators. I'd purchase the hell out of a Classic (or even Jurassic) 737, 757, 767 for MSFS, just to diversify my fleet a bit and fly birds I used to love seeing and flying on.

Commercial aviation these days is a lot more bland and boring than it used to be 20 years ago in terms of fleet diversity, because it's been optimized to death... now it's all 737's, A320 Series and bland, samey airlines and liveries unless you fly out of a handful international markets. I can only hope simming doesn't go down the same route, but when I see remarks like that, I do worry.

There are still debates and a lot of confusion about the weather radar. There are videos where a third party aircraft actually shows the 3d precipitation data on the wx display. Is there difference between wasm and js addons in the availability of the data or what?

Thanks ofr the summary however I am a bit annoyed right now by the hype. It's a T77 like the P3D version with a stupid (just my opinion) price system! The most popular version for the highest price despit ethe exact same features and at a later point. Anyway at one day they will release it and than I gonna continue to wait more until they come out the the -F version.
