Im sure you probably dont have time to read all comments but i was thinking of something like this except using an FP2 presence sensor and getting theed strip follow the person up & down the stairs using rhe programmable led strips. Would rhat be possible?

Great project and it looks awesome! One thing I was curious, though: with the current instructions, if you pass by one sensor and stays moving around in front ot the other, the lights will blink one minute after the firrst sensor is not detecting your movement, I think. Is there any way to "link" the sensors so they act as a single unit? Or make the second sensor cancel the one minute timer for turning off the first one? The way it currently is, it will not wait one minute and will blink eventually. Not a big problem, but not perfect either.

absolutely LOVE IT, turned out really well. it is a result of exactly what I am trying to do. The height above the floor is perfect.

Top tip: when caulking, keep a sanitizer bucket of warm water with you to keep your fingers wet and to dissolve excess caulk (non-silicone only). Use blue shop towels as well, and for that run you should be able to get away with only using two shop towels.

But why didn’t you put the profile behind the handrails? Rule 1 of Lightstrips is: Never have the Lightstrip visible…

Can you do this with cheaper LED strips and still connect to Aqara Hub?

Nice work. Would like to build something similar. But don't like that smarthome thing. I have been searching for a led strip 10m with 2 sensors but can't find any 😔

I liked this so much, I bought the kit and did the same. Just finished up the install yesterday. Do you occasionally have it where the lights turn on but won’t turn off? It’s only happened a couple of times now, but I have to disconnect the power to the es32 and reconnect.😢

How's your confidence in the sticky tape for lasting? I'm thinking small L corner brackets on the molding and wall?

Unless it's the lighting playing some tricks, your carpets are not tight enough. Especially on the stairs.

So i bought a T1 strip and single extension for under the kitchen cabinets by the floor. Bought the BTF connectors listed in the description. Extended a ribbon cable to pass underneath the dishwasher and when i plugged it into the next segment of LED strip, i didnt get warm white. I got RGB and cool white. THEN i soldered the wires straight to the extension/cut piece of LED strip and didnt get anything. Ive now tried this and similar methods to simply get the warm white LED and have now wasted HOURS and two extension strips from Aqara. Any recommendations for me? I'd REALLY like to get this thing to work. They claim it's cuttable but in my experience thus far, it is not.

feels A LOT like being the free home av automation technician for the government who's wiring up my home surveillance network FOR them AND paying for it because they tell me its cool and trendy. There are way to do this without being online and connected to any big tech.
