It's not braking, the engine is locking up because it can't spin that fast.

I shifted from 5th going 80kmh to 2nd on an empty highway once. Nothing happened, engine just got very loud, never did it again 😊

That's why manuals are safer when you lose your brakes.. it helps a lot to slow down..

If properly done you will only burn a bit of the clutch

Went from 5th to 2nd by accident at like 40mph in a 6 speed once and thought i was gonna die this is crazy

65mph which is like 100 to 110km/h is the max speed limit in majority of australia i think outback has a 130km/h zone but otherwise most highways are max 100km/h
