You are the only one I've found so far that pointed out that the Ridgeline comes with very average tires for both off road and real, 4 season, cold weather snow conditions. Put some Falken Trailpeak A/T's on it and it becomes much more capable - trust me on this .

If I had the money, I'd buy the Honda. I have been a loyal Honda owner since 2003. 4 vehicles.

3.5 is a great motor but they don't put it in everything, they put it in the Ridgeline the pilot and the passport.. that's it.

It's clear that you did not like the Ridgeline before you tested it and that affected your review. It busted off a 0-60 time of 7.1, but you were not impressed. BTW, The F150 does it in 7.9. You went out of your way to create drama about ground clearance and the little rocks on your trail, which were never going to be an issue. You would have been more credible if you weren't passive aggressive with your hate. Just own it from the start, dude.

I always questioned why the ridgeline existed and the more videos I have watched, the more I realized it’s actually the truck I need and I just wished it started at 32-35k

The HPD package is just for looks, it really doesn't add to the off-road capabilities. I would just get the lowest tier model, use the money saved on better shocks, real all terrain tires and a skid plate.

You are forgetting about the truck bed, swing gate, and lower step in. The swing gate is great for off loading gravel or dump runs. The wheel well are flat and around 51" apart. This means you can get a pallet flat on the truck bed. I use the Honda truck as a truck and it is the best truck out there.

Is there no vtm4 lock button on the new ridgeline?

Great review, Honda needs to upgrade and offer an off-road package with a lift kit and skid panels also 360 cameras. But come on, what Fool would spend 50k on a truck to jump ditches and clime rocks??

I love my 2021 Ridgeline. It’s likely as much truck as a lot of people actually need - unless they tow over 5k lbs. Incredibly comfortable ride.

"Honda is targeting a younger audience"
Errrr no. Honda is targeting drivers who need a light-duty truck but are intemidated by many common truck features. Ie they want a truck that drives like a car or crossover.

Thanks for the great review! I've purchased a 2022 Ridgeline RTL-E and living in Texas; I really don't often need tremendous AWD performance. However, having it is a nice feature in case we get caught in some cold, snowy weather when visiting family up north. It is a great daily driver with a very comfortable ride, for a truck, that many friends and family have commented on when riding with me. We plan on using is as our primary traveling vehicle. I love the trunk in the bed and with a tonneau cover, the bed is very secure. I'm a very happy owner and expect to be driving my Ridgeline for a very long time.

How is 7.1 to 60 only “not bad “?? It’s a 4500 lb vehicle with 1400lbs of payload capacity.Pretty dumb assessment

It may be an urban truck, but it has some country bones in the unibody structure.

If you can go through snow and up that hill with just all seasonal tires ..then it’s enough truck for 95% of what normal people find themselves in

Thanks for really taking time to test these vehicles. Trying to decide between Ridgeline and Maverick. Really leaning towards Maverick.. as price is a major factor.. but just blown away by how advance the Honda AWD is. Never knew that.. was always a Subaru fan. Just watched all of the test you done with Maverick. Ford needed FX4 package, 4 different modes, three different sets of tires to overcome some challenges. And some just barely. Ridgeline achieves all this automatically. Yes, unfortunately not on the same test trails as Ford. But I just wonder how close the test would have been on the same trails with the same tires as Ford Maverick. Something tells me Honda would have surprised us.

I have transmission anxiety. I think I will for every vehicle I own for now on. I have a 2018 Ridgeline and already have a brand new transmissions put in under warranty only after 100000kms. Iam not a maniac driver amd Honda could not figure out what caused my Transmission failure. Anyways still absolutely love my Ridgeline she is my baby. I know it could of happened with any vehicle. Seeing anyone doing a 0-60 scares the crap out of me. I could only Imagine what is going on in the tranny. If you think about it. How does any material take such a beating. Like all the tranny is are small gears with teeth and other small components creating enough power to send a multiple thousand pound vehicle moving just mind boggling.

Also, when you talk about no grip, why does everyone just barely creep up a slope? All you have to do is drive more than walking speed.

Throw a 3 inch lift kit on that and you are golden.... I've taken lesser vehicles on worse terrain... I dig this. Some of the issues in these videos are the drivers. Just saying... I like your video, though. Don't take my comments the wrong way! Cheers!
