The major issues of the T-72 and the T-90 are their turret design and poor reverse speeds. A cast turret with ammunition storage bustle and a decent reverse speed will make the T series tanks truly a force to reckon with on the modern battlefield.

The T72 was never supposed to be the best of the best. It is limited by weight and it's budget. It's a cheap and reliable tank, the cheapest in the Russian arsenal, also it is faster than the T90M (because of it's light weight). So there are some advantages to it and it fulfills it's niche perfectly. You are trying to imply that they should have done the best possible upgrade to armor and it's thermals that they could, which is just silly, it was never meant to be the best of the best. Just good enough, which that tank is, and you've confirmed it yourself.

Third time watching this video... and i rly dont know why they dont installed relikt on its front, this is funny because he have relikt on the sides, and tanks like t80bvm have relikt everywhere. And another thing is why, fucking why they maintain this trash comander sight? Sincerely if they wanted to keep the tank cheap they could installed the comander sight of t80u on it, that is an stablized one, have a better optic, the HMG on top is remote and have a far away better night vision that not depends on searchlights.
Another funny thing is that the frontal ERA coverage on t80bvm was done better, when in t72b3 it was made with the ass for some no reason lol.
T72b3 is not good but not bad at same time, we can say that it is the best cheap modern tank today, BUT we can agree that they could have done much better even if the objective was to maintain it cheap as possible, same for t80bvm.

Why expect the T-72B3 to fight armour ?

This is an excellent tank if manned by a well-trained and motivated crew. I really enjoy using it in Steel Beasts Pro PE. It’s a bit fragile, but then again pretty much any tank can be killed by another tank. It’s all about who fires first.
