GOTHAM HAD THE BEST RIDDLER

Gotham was an extremely weird show but some things were great. I also really liked Scarecrow's backstory and I wish we would have had him more fleshed out in the Nolan movies. At least SOME of a backstory. Also the show kept going in completely different and strange directions all the time, couldn't say it got as old as e.g. Supernatural.

i really love the Dano interpretation but THIS guy is fantastic as a more true to form adaptation.

The only bad thing about this riddlers is they tries to make him and penguin gay

Well, to be fair, there was never a good portrayal of the Riddler in TV or movies... Or even cartoons. The Riddler always felt like one of Batman's weakest adversaries, while in the comics it was the exact opposite.

Paul Dano was better

I honestly loved the two personalities. I felt this added to how one half of him is a great kind person while the other is this evil and feels the need to show off. This also was true to the comics because Edward Nygma did have a split psyche.

Riddler's outfit - especially around Season 4 & 5 - is one of my favourites.

The black shirt works better than the white one, I reckon. Makes the green pop more in an ominous sense.

but Corey Michael Smith is one of my favorite(best)TV performances
of the decade. Im supercritical on actor's ability to convince me that they arent just memorizing a script or trying to PLAY the part. IDK who else this way but if iWasnt for him & wouldve hightailed this series after barbra turnt bad! Gimme Leto's cholo Joker everyday ending with Y over Cam. Matter fact, i'd take a holograph Joker than the Mark Walburg's happening buwool shit. And i usually have a soft spot for gingers, but iDigress!

CMS carried that series & didnt have to be reincarnated again. Again & again, again!

I think they should've tried out the Riddler talking to himself without having hallucinations, more like self-doubt or over thinking things rather than a multiple personalities.

He was the best version of the Riddler. Season 1 was the Penguin season. But season 2 was THE RIDDLER season & the actor was brilliant!

Frank Gorshin will always be the best Riddler,he took a villain who was rarely used in the comics and considered second rate and made the Riddler popular,no actor afterward could say that.

To me, Gotham was a bad show with tons of awesome characters that in turn made the bad parts bearable. I love the show, but damn do I hate a few arcs. The pseudo bane and actual bane later on? The dumb Azrael? Bruce being a too much of a huge asshole at times? All that I could have done without. Jerome Valeska? As fun as some parts of him were, no thank you. Jeremiah did what I wanted to see in a Joker, that cutting off of his face was a bit too much for me, honestly - like, either go full Joker and have him do it himself and then fucking call him Joker, or dont and leave it out entirely.

I cant stand Fish Mooney and all the scenes with her annoyed the heck out of me. But Penguin was great, Grundy was flawed as hell but great too. Jeremiah Joker? Awesome. Bruce accepting his Batman role and earlier much more vulnerable Bruce? Awesome. Riddler and Penguin? Perfect. Strange? Great! Mr Freeze? Fun enough to enjoy him. Firefly? A nice change and definitly awesome to see done well. Mad Hatter? His arc might suck, but he was awesome. Not much of a fan of crane, but I dont hate him, also, his scenes later on were cool.

Basicly, while I heavily dislike many of the plotpoints and think that too many things were handked badly for me to call it a good show, the characters they had and the actors playing them were superb. Gordon, Bullock and Alfred? Pretty near perfect. Falcone and Maroni? Literally my mental image when I think of them and better than any other depiction I've seen. Court of Owls? Very well done, even if the payoff was bad. Selina Kyle? Loved that Character. They had so many well done moments and perfectly acted characters, that the show was watchable. Sure, many things sucked, but it was awesome to see these actors play those parts so well. Especially Nygma. To me, Riddler and Penguin stole every scene they were in. I wanted to see how fucked up it'll all get. Was the freezing bit and ten times killing eachother on that bloody pier bad? Totally. But I still found it funny, sad and charming all at once after a while.

Such a great show, best riddler to this date, best hatter, penguin, Gordon, just mostly everyone did a great job with their characters.

Cory Michael Smith gave a sublime interpretation of the Riddler, for me the best of all the ones I have seen... apart from that Cory gave his elegant and sexy touch to the Riddler💚

I don't know dude , I absolutely agree the Gotham had the best definitely-not-the-joker(I liked all 3) Because that kid/guy is just a great actor & should be destined for great success, But I honestly think Jim Carrey IS the best Riddler(And only by a slight margin) , Because he & he alone carried that movie & the actors were HUGE stars, Carrey had no-one tork work off was let down badly by his supporting actors(And they were hardly SUPPORTING actors) wheas the Gotham Riddler had great supporting actors & was able to gel with, But maybe Gotham Riddler is more accurate ?, But Jim Carrey played it in that similar mould , Both Great Performances , But Jim Carrey was slightly better, Remember that in movies that characters don't really get the much of a character development arc like they do in TV series.

Weird thought but: I think Gotham Nygma and Izuku from My Hero Academia could get along very well.

Both have a thirst for knowledge, and they could trade said knowledge with each other. Deku? His near-journalistic skills. Nygma? His love for riddles.

All this, ignoring what Nygma eventually becomes.

Batman is a charecter which is best represented in a show because the charecters need to be developed like this and not suddenly turn into one.

Dialogical thinking is such a common thing, I would like to see works that don't treated that as a mental illness

If I wrote the finale of Gotham, I'd make Riddler change his personality to act more like the Paul Dano Riddler from The Batman 2022. Instead of making him act like one of the newer Riddlers, they instead make him act more of a Jim Carrey, which had a good impression, but I'm not a Jim Carrey Riddler fan.

I grew up with the cartoons and only started getting into cartoons a few years ago so there’s a lot I still don’t know/haven’t read but Gotham’s Penguin and Riddler feel like the most authentic versions of the characters I’ve seen. I know it’s unlikely but I hope we get to see them played by these actors on the big screen some day

If I had a nickel for every character I like who develops a split personality which can be associated with the color green I'd have like three nickels.

This riddler is my favourite actor in the show

I only watched the first couple seasons, so I only saw the promise of the riddler, and I liked what I saw. I’m pretty happy to not have watched another duel personality thing, because that eliminates the whole slow burn of how he becomes the riddler with the personality traits he started out with. With a sudden duel personality, then that can occurs at any time and the build up is pointless, since his evil side is essentially not really the person we were watching before.

Not that it's really all that important but I always liked that he's somewhat Jim carrey-like in appearance. Like you could believe it's a young version of him.
