Finding an iceberg in an ocean that big, then sideswiping it well enough to sink the ship reaks of an insurance fraud attempt..😮
That aside entertaining disaster porn for all of the family 🎉

there are actually so many inaccuracies in this movie it is painful to watch! (it is still the best Titanic movie after the superior Titanic 1997, the rest are simply garbage)

it was the first Funnel that almost crashed Lightoller, not the fourth one, that actually stayed attached even after the break-up!
the director of this movie refused to accept hundreds of testimonies of people that swear on their lives they saw how the ship is breaking into-two, absolute unforgivable disgrace!
no one in the music band played a flute.
there was no Nursery with a swinging horse on Titanic, it was on R.M.S Britannic, what a rookie mistake!
and the list goes on...

this movie gave a lot of inspiration for Titanic 1997 though,
saying that because "Jack and Rose" are made up characters, the entire movie is B.S is a strawman argument of people who barely know anything about the history of Titanic

I’m sorry but I can’t help thinking Cameron plagiarized this entire film. It’s vastly superior with genuine emotion. Not a huge fan of colorization however.

"Excuse me sir, a message from the Californian, she's nearby and just heard about the Titanic. She wants to know if there's anything she can do?"
One of the saddest lines of dialogue in the entire movie.

It was the only movie that I didn’t see about the Titanic : I heard since many years that, with of course the masterpiece of J. Cameron, it was one of the most accurate of all. And yes with the facts it was 1958 and the Titanic was not discovered at this period, so they done a quite good reconstitution with what they had. So good job. This one was not bad at all.

All of these 'coloured' films are terrible in terms of the totally incorrect colours used. I watched the 'colourised' version of 'The Way Ahead' the other night; the colours were pathetic and laughable, a blind dog would have known all of the colours were wrong. ANTR is a great film, with lots of atmosphere, and should have been left in black and white, instead of spoiling it.
As to the arguments about ANTR v Titanic, both films had their faults but I think ANTR is much the superior film. It has better dialogue and acting, and represents the events and Edwardians more accurately. It also benefited from having people on set who survived the sinking of the Titanic. Cameron's Titanic had a terrible script, and the romance was just so unrealistic, distracting and tedious. The director and actors merely represented 1990s attitudes and made no attempt to represent Edwardians by getting into an earlier character; they were simply1990s people dressed in Edwardian clothing, no acting required. Cameron also had an agenda. Everything wore either a white hat or a black hat, most wore black hats, cardboard villains. The CGI was enjoyable at the end (the only part of the film that was) but CGI alone doth not a good film make. ANTR did not show Titanic breaking in half as some have complained about; well, so what? They did not know it broke in half when the film was made, and it hardly matters.

All the little nuances, ad-libs... The 1997 movie was a remake of this.

THE definitive titanic story, the strength of a good film is allowing the story to evolve with great attention to character development, you actually feel drawn into plight of each and everyone on board. Film making at its finest 👌, maybe the delightful Honor Blackman first film a future Bond character and queen of the gods in Jason and the argonauts. Also a unique film classic, ❤ enjoy

I never knew of a colour version of this film.
I always liked Michael Goodliffe's portrayal of Thomas Andrews because I believe Thomas Andrews himself would of probably been in a wide eyed catatonic state while his beloved creation sinks under his feet, realising there's not enough lifeboats & a hell of a lot of people are going to lose their lives.
Why did they bother with a scene breaking a champagne bottle on Titanic's bow when the real Titanic hadn't gone through the traditional ceremony? Wasn't it common knowledge back in '58?
It is believed that, at the time of shooting scenes, the ship Aquitania was to be scrapped so they dry docked her, then set the scene up to make it look like it's being launched which are definitely money shots because a real ship was involved
7.11. come to conclusion that this is an amateurish colourization . the software used, is probably freeware.
It looks ok in close shots & with very little motion, but it can't handle wide shots.
Was the order to close the watertight doors before or after grounding the iceberg?

The report on the sinking describes that when sinking the two halves sank 27 minutes apart, and sit about 2000 feet apart on the bottom of the North Atlantic. The tragedy could have bèen avoided, but occured due to a string of incidents that when put together set the the stage for the tragedy to happen.

It’s such a shame some one didn’t think to jump in a life boat and haul tail to that ship who wasn’t answering the morse code. Even if it took them an hour to row there they may have been able to get back just in time with that ship.
So sad :(….
