Hi there, many thanks for the video. I have everything setup, but when I go to the delivery tab, and I try to play the video, I get this error - Critical Exception: Bad Allocation - any ideas on how to fix this, as I am not able to go any further
ОтветитьThank you so much!😊
ОтветитьHello from NZ Patrick, thanks for sharing your hacks. Could you please do a video (sorry if you've done already), about setting up good habits for organising and naming cache folders for projects so we know what we're deleting? I know you mentioned DR regenerates new cache clips (mind blowing) but I feel like I need to evolve with DR and be more responsible and respectful, rather than grinding on one new project after another, only to find myself back on YT hunting for a solution. I've been doing this since DR7 lol. Also, thanks for getting straight to the point in your videos. And your humour is refreshing during stressful times...
ОтветитьThis could not be more helpful. Thanks man!
ОтветитьAlright, but i'm caching the video and my resolve just crashes... What can i do to prevent that?
Ответитьthe render cache system, especially in combination with the proxies is one of the worst i have ever seen in a video editing software. Not being able to use the render cache if the proxy render resolution is not set to full it totally unacceptable and makes fast effect editing impossible. This is the only thing, that Adobe Premiere still handles much better.
ОтветитьThank you, saved a lot of further headache. Big like bro! 😎👍
Ответитьit does not seem to be possible editing with proxies set to quarter resolution and having render cache active at the same time. Once you activate render cache it renders at full resolution. If you have a scene where you can't playback smoothly even with quarter resoluaiton proxy you can only use render cache. That works for this scene, but you then need to switch back to proxy quarter resolution and this scene will stutter although it has been pre-rendered.
ОтветитьVery helpful. Still my number one feature request for Resolve is a “render cache” command like FCP has. Just select anything, hit the shortcut, and it caches. So seemingly simple!!
ОтветитьMan I wish I had seen this a week ago lol. I actually returned a M1 MacBook Pro because I made these exact mistakes.
ОтветитьSo if I delete all the files from CacheClip Folder,
Will it ruin the whole video I've been working on so far? it already took 60 gigabytes :(
you can also achieve the "forced caching" you showed at the end without any changes by playing the clip in the color page.
ОтветитьReally useful. Answered a lot of my questions around slow render times which using Fusion Effects too.
Does anyone know a way of setting "Render Cache Fusion Effect Filter" for multiple clips at once? Even if you select multiple it only applies it to 1 clip.
thanks. I came here because my render cache for a 1-2 minute video in 4K hit 600GB and brought my NVME SSD to it's knees; so I had to learn about it and this vid was helpful.
I have noticed 'render cache format' is set to uncompressed 10-bit, hence likely why my cache is gargantuan size. I am going to explore (other YT tuts and experimenting).
I used Adobe AE for 15+ years and I'm loving Davinci Resolve, whilst also finding all my intuitions are taking an ass kicking. I'll get over it.
thank you so much!!!!
ОтветитьThank you for this video
ОтветитьExcellent tutorial, thanks!
ОтветитьDo you know if this can be done on iPad?
Ответитьit would of played just fine on an Ipad though.
ОтветитьThat finally made things clear about render cache. A very helpful video guide. Thank you.
ОтветитьThank you, great video, i have the M1 Max. I am rotoscoping in fusion on a 4k raw image, kinda need good playback to see if the scope follows the footage. Its not going smooth on my macbook M1. The mask is not updating always and I need to click a corner of the mask every time for it to update, and sometimes the mask is updating but the background image is not (stuck). Is there a way to make this work better?
ОтветитьDamn got my 200gb back thank you
ОтветитьThis is super helpful, thanks Patrick. I added some background blur using the depth map and the playback was awful, I'll try this out!
ОтветитьYou just saved me 315 GBs with the clearing Cache tip.. THANK YOU
ОтветитьThanks. I wondered why certain projects were slowing down.
Ответитьcan you make a tutorial on how to make Davinci resolve templates. I want to make some for myself but don't know where to start
Ответитьshit content ... super ultra begginer
ОтветитьHey Patrick When I get to Working Folders for deleting Render Cache. It shows Cache Clip Only. It doesen't show which drive it's Located in, although I have only One Drive in my Laptop & that's a c-Drive. Still finding it in another Viewer doesen't show me that CacheClip. It's neither a Folder in my Drive neither I can find some like that in my BlackMagicDesign Folder. What Could it be ???
ОтветитьVery important info 👍
ОтветитьLearned something in the first minute that will help me immensely. I have been doing this wrong for a while. Thanks.
ОтветитьI just learned this the other day cuz I was having troubles with an image loading. Very useful information to have!
ОтветитьI don't like setting timeline resolution to anything other than full, because if I need to zoom in on the viewer, I want to see everything in full quality as I edit.
ОтветитьResolve's cache is so large that I have a dedicated 500GB SSD in my system simply for cache.
ОтветитьThanks, I thought it was the whole folder, but i just cleared out 50 GB and i ONLY edit shorts LOL
Ответитьdoes anyone know if it makes a differance having the cache files on a ssd or a hdd?
Ответить10gb cleared 👍
ОтветитьOmg I was doing the whole cache thing wrong and the first tip omg that is the big one bro 🧠
Ответитьawesome and helpful content Patrick thank you so much
ОтветитьUnbelievably helpful - thank you Patrick 🙏🏻
ОтветитьLol I've just discovered that I had 235GB in my CacheClip... Thanks for this video man, you're a legend!
ОтветитьI needed such video 3 week ago when I found my project with irreversibile error project and thakls to turnaround I deleted my main timeline, puckyly I had a rendere gli of it ended. Only to after fino out that my ssd had 400+ gb worth cache fron DvR and it was the problem. Solved the problem, still this is useful video
ОтветитьWhen you are in the Fusion page bottom right you will see a percentage and a RAM amount, you can right click that to purge your comp’s cache and have a few more options, sometimes in Fusion the cache gets confused and it will show a mix of cached and uncached elements together
Ответитьwow 93gb in mine, didnt even realise at all
ОтветитьBruh 2,037 GB deleted
ОтветитьThere are so many other caching mechanisms as well such as mode caching on the Color page and in Fusion. Would be wonderful if you could go through those as well (including strategies for when to use them). Thanks for this one, Patrick.
ОтветитьI stopped using render cache just for this 😑
ОтветитьJordan Peterson : clean your room
Patrick : clean your cache
First tip was very helpful and probably why I’m have issues with smart mode. I set to quarter and smart but what happens sometimes is this.. After the smart render is done, when I start to make certain changes, it seems like is stores the new cache with the old one and playing both at the same time. So i get strange colors, weird lines, or completely black screen. Then I have to disable smart, delete cache, then re-enable smart and re-cache for it to play right.. I have been working counterproductive to how the cache works this whole time..🤯
ОтветитьYo! I went to delete my cache. ....473GB!!!!!! OMG! Me and my hard drive THANK YOU!!!
