I would say… apple is front runner since ages. So SD come close and overtake is actually good and means apple challenged the competition to create this leap forward. Means apple may was a little lazy and/or focus more on efficiency as the chips are already crazy fast. At this point almost nobody can use the performance of the chips to a full extend. That’s like you compare a Ferrari and a Lamborghini with 0,3 seconds better start up. Power efficiency is much more important at this point

There is no more 5 nm or 3nm since we switched to FINFET from planer transistor and that was since 28 nm an 22nm in few cases. In today’s scenario what 5nm or 3nm means is marketing. When they say 3nm They generally mean that the performance that they are achieving is equivalent to theoretical 3nm planer transistor.

Apple is not in any trouble. It has the chips it currently needs. Apple users won't switch to Android just because it gains some speed. Clickbait headline.

The only reason apple is in not trouble is the lead in single core performance, pretty sure they are aware that most issues usually still boil down to single core performance so they are most likely focusing on that. When 2-3 year old android phones start performing as well as 2-3 year old iphones do (which is obviously not the case for now), THAT's when they will be in trouble :D

There is no need for making chips faster than this for couple years now. Focus on the AI side and improve it then focus on the power efficiency and thus thermal performance. Lower the nm, keep the performance same but increase the power efficiency and ai. We all know that this gen3 will be throttling like hell so there is no point of slapping 6 performance cores to it.

This comparison is pointless. You don't buy the iPhone for the processor, but for the operating system. It would not make any difference for me having a faster processor. I'll be fine for the next 4 years with my iPhone 13.

The difference is most Flagship Android phones nowadays already have ARMv9 chipset architecture while Apple's chipsets are still ARMv8. ARMv9 is the actual improvement in ARM chipsets .

Wouldn’t say they’re in trouble.
Of course things will change once competitors can use 3nm, but Apple already has some experience with it, to further improve the next chip down the line.

Even the M3 line up was better than I was expecting and it uses 3nm.
