100%. I'm not sure about this "new era of economic growth". We're in an era of unprecedented poverty actually. And no, I'm not talking about third world countries or the opportunities allegedly denied to so-called minorities. I mean middle-class people all over America, supposedly one of the more well-off countries in the world, who are struggling to even see the ends, much less make them meet. I'm also unsure of the idea that we have improved the way education happens- people are even less interested in learning anything about science or history (the things we should be learning about because they're a reflection of us right now) than they were a decade ago. In any case, opportunities being easier for anyone to come across isn't a good thing. That means more criminals (and simply more idiots) can perpetuate and propagate their behavior even easier, and make a profit off it, without even working hard or needing to be intelligent for it.

Imagine a world where machines do all the labor better than we humans ever could, sounds nice doesn't it?
Now imagine a world where machines do all the labor but you still somehow need to find a way to make a living. Some have said that we could pass a law like basic livable income, But why would the government do that if they have machines to do all the labor for them? Governments and corporations won't need us anymore they have their robots and we can all starve to death, It won't affect their bottom line at all.
Now imagine a world where human beings, desperate hungry and angry rebel against both governments and corporations who have entirely cut them out of the benefits of I highly technologically advanced society. If both political and corporate leaders were avaricious and apathetic enough to let this happen in the first place, chances are they won't have a problem with using their hyper-advanced AIs to violently suppress any uprising against their established order.
Now imagine the world in which these same corporate and political powers continue to advance their AIs to the point of true sentience, Superior to human intellect. Imagine this machine as a child who has been raised in an environment where it's completely acceptable to starve or wipe out entire populations in order to secure your own wealth and influence. What kind of adult would that child grow to be, what kind of being would that machine become?
