Really meh movie, great idea but bad execution
Ответитьare we? are we just gonna ignore this being a film written and directed by the guy who made Calvin and Hobbes?
actually yes. because it's just some random dude with the same name, and not the guy who made Calvin and Hobbes.
Hangs on a Frankenstein frame.
Ответить'Dave Made a Maze' is one of the greatest movies ever made.
ОтветитьI found this a very creative fun movie, just go with it and don't think too much about it.
ОтветитьI totally agree with everything you said. Like 100%. You're exactly right
ОтветитьI despise Hollywood wanna be writers and actors. These creators are not these type of shit bags. This movie is fucking A-MAZE-ing. It lacks political undertones and overtones, It's all about fun! Its basically a Goonies film with Old people and low budget, but its BEAUTIFUL!
Ответитьscott vs box is in here
ОтветитьYou're not giving this movi enough love. Its may favorite movie since The Goonies,
ОтветитьSo... this is the live action adaptation of Doug Tennapel's graphic novel Cardboard... I'm in!
ОтветитьWHERE THE BEARD'S AT
ОтветитьThis movie actually gives me the same vibe as what would constitute about 1/3 of 'House of Leaves' (a novel by Mark Z Danielewski) which is explicitly supposed to be more horrific and less funny but also explores MZD's parental family issues from his own childhood (along side his sister who makes music under the moniker Poe). But a literal mystically large labyrinth with a minotaur in it feature prominently in it as a metaphor for the character who acts as Mark's father (an award winning photographer) always running off on adventures to dangerous locales to get his next pic at the expense of spending time with his family. I recommend it if you have the time (and you may not depending on your schedule) its a strangely interesting piece of 90s literature.
ОтветитьAnyone else notice the director is the creator of Calvin and Hobbes?
ОтветитьJust checked this out since it was on Hulu and yes, the visuals were the big reason to watch this film. It's seriously creative and certain scenes had me stunned or laughing heartily at their inventiveness.
Ответить"Because its main big joke is that everyone is surprised by what's going on, but not as surprised as you might expect"
So sort of like Being John Malkovich?
I also have a hard time with you condescending to any specific group when you blindly support people like Anita Sarkisian. Just my two cents
ОтветитьYour audio needs work especially at the awkward cuts and for the love of all that is good please learn to use spill suppressor on your green screen footage.
ОтветитьI had this described to me vaguely enough that it sounded more like a "Walter Mitty" or "We Bought a Zoo" type deal. Your description makes it sound closer to "Scott Pilgrim" or something, and I liked that movie all right. Hell, I'm even glad I watched "Safety Not Guaranteed". So I should probably give this a look.
EDIT: Oh look it's on Hoopla already. This must really be a hipster movie.
Sounds fun!
ОтветитьLoved the movie
Ответитьi think it looks really charming
ОтветитьHigh five!
ОтветитьBeautiful intro about the monied art school brats. I hate Max Landis, too.
Ответитьreview the death note movie, it's so fucking bad
Ответить1 minute in, and I still have no idea what this movie is about.
ОтветитьCool gimmick, shitty acting.
Like if the actors were better this could have been great. It's just okay, and has no real rewatchability. They had just one good idea, and while good, they just had nothing else to offer, so there is a lot of filler, that gets in the way. Like this could have been an excellent 30-ish minute episode of a serialized series. As stand alone movie? Not so much.
Unfortunately, I have to wait to DVD. Somehow despite living in the Hipster capital of the south, I can't find it at any of the local theatres or art houses.
Ответить"If you told me this started out as a Community movie, I'd believe you"... "James Urbaniak is in this"
Well damn, now I HAVE TO see it.
You had me when you compared it to Community.
ОтветитьSo I guess summer movie season is officially over
ОтветитьAhh! I saw this a few weeks ago as it was touring and loved it so much, I chatted a bit with the writer and got to wear the Minotaur head!
ОтветитьFUN FACT: The Minotaur that lurks in the maze is played by John Hennigan aka. WWE's John Morrison aka. Lucha Underground's Johnny Mundo aka. GFW's (ugh) "Johnny Impact".
ОтветитьHoly f*** it's out!? And it's good? I'll def. watch it now.
Great use of green screen btw ;)
Holy fuck this sounds like my kind of flick. Movie about a giant cardboard maze I'm sold.
ОтветитьFinally! A fucking Minotaur in a Maze movie! About fucking time!
Ответить"What you'd have to call a horror film except... well, you'll see"
I avoid horror movies when possible, so no, I will not.
The trailer gave me BEING JOHN MALKOVICH vibes. And I mean that in a good way. I'll check it out at some point.
ОтветитьSounds like a not depressing version of Bunny and the Bull
ОтветитьSo he took that Community episode about Abed and Troy building a giant pillow-and-blanket fort, replaced the material with cardboard, stretched it into a movie? I'll call this a maybe.
ОтветитьOh, this should have been Abed Made a Maze.
ОтветитьMy god this does sound exactly like an episode of Community. It is scary.
ОтветитьBob no likey "Ready Player One?"
A shame... I loved that book, and I'm lookin' forward to the movie.
I was eyeballing this. Never expected Bob to talk about it
ОтветитьDave has also made a Movie.
Ответитьif I can find it anywhere I'll give it a look I suppose
ОтветитьReminds me of Bunny and the Bull.
ОтветитьDid the thumbnail have cardboard version of master control program?
ОтветитьBeing John Malkovich meets Legend of the Hidden Temple? Think I'll just watch Being John Malkovich again.
ОтветитьDaves a fucking mutant
