It is not possible to think in the target language, at least not for beginners.
Beginners need to think first in their native language and then translate word for word into the target language. That is because beginners have no other choice.
Beginners will first learn individual, isolated words. Eventually they will learn sentences and expressions, but that happens much later.
So beginners have no other choice other than direct or literal translation.
To ask beginners to think directly in the target language is unreasonable.

Dear Bob, thanks for your dedicated work and comprehensive lessons. Happy new year🎉🎉🎉The lessons help me a lot
And probably someone has already asked a question here,
just lazy to scroll all the lines through, can you please clarify about the overloading. Should I listen and read different text and audio at the same time, or text should be a transcript of the audio?

In my experience other method that might help you to improve your listening comprehension in English letterature that minimize or stop you to translate in English pausing your self for a few moments is to watch and listen natives English speaker w/out subtitles.

Many thanks to Bob. But as a highly experienced EFL teacher in Asia, the first two methods you recommended are only conducive to top- performing and strongly-motivated students. For slow snd medium learners, keeping vocabulary and basic grammar rules in mind will absolutely be heavy workload to them. I mean these will bkow their mind enough . 😊😊😊😊😊

Hi, bob, you would've forgotten me i am Ghanshyam pawar your old student i agree with your the all tips and tricks stop translating in our mind while we learn any language but i will say there is no such things that learning a lot of words to get fluent our mind always thirsty to learn new things or new words if we learn words reading diffination and translate in our native language we think we learned those words but somedays after we totally forget of those words because we dont enough review of those words we learned typically traditional way but my point here vocabulary words or phrases doesn't mean itself which kind of situation we are hoing to use words depend on situations if we take words review many ways and listening and watching many different native saying of that exact words then we can say that words confidently in the conversation without translatin in our head first understanding the words deeply until saying confidently not repetation we can say " natually varied review,, because understand leads to confident to speak however some people have misconception first if you speak then you get fluent no it does not you understand first until you get fluent of those words but people approach learning ESL this method doesn't get fluent EFL approach we will definitely get fluent sorry my explanation too long but its fact thanks.
