If we went back in time and told Newton or Galileo how old the earth is, their heads would explode... for us it's just another Monday. How much have our horizons broadened and what impact do they have on us ?

WTF is "jesus is crucified" in this otherwise suburb video? There is no evidence for a Jesus nor anything supernatural, and this is a science channel. You ruined it!

The concept of millions and billions of years gets lost in translation sometimes. I feel like these little perspective exercises are sometimes necessary to express how long our planet and this universe have been around.

While very nice I prefer the calendar one. If Big Bang started Midnight Jan1, then humans appeared at the last min (or second) of Dec 31.

It's important to note that the parts per million of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere was under 300 parts per million from the time hominids first arose, all the way up until 1900 which is the last 2 inches of that line. My great-grandfather was the last generation ever to live under the same threshold chemical composition of Earth's atmosphere as all human and hominid life on Earth before that. My grandfather was born at 303 parts per million, my mother was born at 307, I was born at 310, my daughter at 350 my granddaughter at 410 and now we are at 419. This is not something a lot of people realize. The incredibly fast rate of change in only five generations away from the chemical composition of Earth's atmosphere under which our physiology evolved.

Its too bad that the magnetic feild decline of earth proves the earth isnt even at maximum 25,000 years old. We lose 30% of our magnetic feild every 180 years (yes its that bad) so in 2,996 A.D. All life on earth will die so Jesus (mentioned in this video) will return before then.

From my understanding of the Bible the earth is almost 11000 years, 6 days of creation = 6000 years to the creation of Adam from Adam to present just under 5000 years and then after that the 1000 year reign reign of Christ on the earth with those that were raptured from the earth before the world is set on fire by Apophis crashing into the earth on Passover 2036 marking the end of the 11 000 years.

Before everybody start crying that this is wrong consider this the sun would of being so much hotter if it was created 4.5 billion years ago that it would of evaporated and fried everything on the planet (even now with global warming a few degrees is causing so much devastation on the earth), If anything happened to crawl from the minerals and heat 4.5 billions of years ago I don't see how there can be such an abundance of life and variety, out of all the known planets nothing compares to the earth for the bio sphere that sustains life, dna evidence suggest that there is no in between species (although this is changing with scientist mixing up genies of different species) and evidence points to life exploding around about the same time which is what the Bible is saying.

How in the world can anyone come up with 4.5 billion years when man has only 6000 years of history on the planet to analyze events some extreme assumptions had to have been made that the rate of change remains the same, they simple have no idea but to prove evolution they just add billions of years till a person caves in and says ah that must be right. Life is intelligently made and so complex, it was no accident just as computers are intelligently made and given a computer soul (software) to run it and just did not evolve out of the dirt even though it is made from the dirt.

A scientist came across a can of coke that had been open and said to himself I will work out how long this can has been open by the amount of gas molecules coming out of it as I know that this can of coke contains x number of gas molecules. Ah that's right one gas molecule is leaving the can every 1/2 hours so this can was opened millions of years ago meanwhile the can was opened a few hours ago because the rate of change explodes in the beginning and lessens the longer it has been open.

Scientist can estimate 1000 of years with bad accuracy as we have seen with so many different dates coming from the same sample but billions of years is the biggest joke of all

Or, Earth is living a "Groundhog Day" (1993), Ancient Civilizations recently being dug up thought to only exist in the Old Testament, artifacts found conflict with the technology timeline, South Pole melting revealing Ancient Civilization's buildings, evidence of our Sun doing micronovas (Sun is re-heating up, a reason why all the planets in our solar system are heating up like Earth's). Other stars recently observed throughout the universe surviving their micronova bursts; our Sun, after each corona surface buildup and ejections, Earth goes thru another Ice Age period (science confirmed Earth had multiple Ice Ages), Mars has a huge planetary scar on its visible surface for being in the direct path of a corona ejection debris ..., rinse n repeat (billions of years).

Really, the Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed by using only, soft copper tools? An architectural marvel that modern tools and manpower we can't duplicate in the 21st Century?

Makes more sense than this great expanse with zero events not happening across most of the USA, until after the last Ice Age, right before NY.

Why was the moon mission to look for micronova evidence of rock glass and glass beads (astronauts recording audio while of the surface of the moon talking about those observations), codename Apollo the "sun" god?

I wonder how long humans have left. 100 years? 500 years? 1,000? This world needs a lot of change for it to continue with us on it. I do believe we have hope because there are a lot of good people in every corner of the world. There are a lot of people pushing for positive changes. I wish there was a way to stop crazy people from getting too much power. That could be our downfall.

"My interpretation of the (end date) is that it is the point at which the ingression into novelty and the degree of interconnectedness of the separate elements that comprise the concrescence will be such that the ontological nature of time itself will be transformed. History will end, and the transcendental object that has been drawing being into ever deeper reflections of itself since the first moments of the existence of the universe will finally be completely concrescent in the three-dimensional space-time continuum. Then the moving image of time will have discovered itself to be eternity." - Terence Mckenna

@Science Insider, use the metric system please! The metric system is the system of measurement that is based on the decimal number, 10. Virtually all countries use the metric system, and it is used in every field of occupation. Even NASA and the United States Space Force use the metric system in the fields of astronomy, space science, meteorology, climatology, military, and international trade.
