I thought I was the only one who thought the ending was a happy ending. At least for her. She finally can leave her horrible narcissistic boyfriend, she finds a new community, and her positive traits are celebrated

My favorite director of all time, and his career is not even 10 years old. Guys like this make me pumped for the future.

The thing about horror is often that a death or even excessive multiple deaths will happen for the shock value of the viewer and then the characters seem to move on very quickly. But films like these portray deaths with actual consequences for the plot and the mental states of the characters moving forward.

I can see some positive catharsis in Midsommar but the interview saying this for the new family in hereditary is utterly insane.

Hereditary is so haunting and very scary it stays with you for a very long time and Midsommar is scary and gorier than Hereditary but it's not uncomfortable scary like Hereditary.

The woman in the background of this interview… in the white dress… wholly disinterested, bored, and couldn’t give a shit, is a powerful metaphor.

After 2 films and his short films im pretty sure I’m a fan of this guy as much as I am M. Night… if not more. “Hereditary” left me feeling and thinking after it was over… any movie that has me thinking about it a day or two later is exactly what i want when i see a movie

World becomes polluted with very negative things when people get into and inside these genres which are actually like modern cults. The Horror genre is like a weird cult that has detached itself from reality, basic goodness and common sense. The Horror cult is giving its members rewards for doing extremely damaging "trips" that basicly pollute human consciousness and in the worst case cause little traumas which make people subconsciously and hugely afraid of experiencing something that would really take them out of their dull and mundane life.

The only positive thing about this guy is that he is being pretty open and honest about the vomiting of his own anxiety and bad feelings through these movies on other people. I highly recommend avoiding this guys movies or watch them only as an example of someone getting storytelling and film art completely wrong.

Great art or great movies are never created with such intentions.

I would have asked him if the name midsommar was supposed to be a wink at a midsummer nights dream by Shakespeare- with the drug use and the humans dressed as animals and the hints of folklore/fairy mythology

2 Major releases and they both deliver
He's been hinting that he's stepping away from Horror for the next few projects
I'm sure they will also contain that thing he's good at
I look forward to being a fan of his work.
