ОтветитьWill setting the white balance help reduce the blue cast?
ОтветитьYou can skip any other setting for video - except White Balance. Always set WB manually. Even when you miss the correct WB setting, it is easy to correct in post with one click across entire timeline.
ОтветитьWhat WB setting is generaly accepted for video with an action camera (DJI Acton4) during winter with snow everywhere? I can't tell if towards blue or towards red is normal. During summer I set it to 5500k. Thanks!
ОтветитьSorry to mess in this otherwise good video, but I am always hurt when someone say in one line white balance and grey card. While there are some folks that do that, please write it somwhere that grey card is for expousre only. White card is for white ballance. I know that for creative purpose, you may use blue cards for white balance like my warm cards from vortex media, but still, dont confuse the audience.
ОтветитьGood video! Thank you!
ОтветитьThank you ...
ОтветитьHi Josh I'm confused with one thing which is what if you want a specific colour, example a red or blue look does that mean white balance is wrong? Example John Wick films have a purple look to it..also what if I want shoot in a darkroom which is red look, which white balance shall I choose? I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes the wrong white balance mode gives an artistic look to it, is that wrong?
ОтветитьGood tips...which one do i have to select for the quality images on my camera ? Thanks
Ответитьplease someone help me, my a7iv gives so red skintone photos and video expect slog 3 what should i do😊
ОтветитьI would like a video on why Auto White Balance is so bad even on cameras with AI capabilities - you’d think that Sony would be able to detect skin and properly adjust to skin tone….but they seemingly they can’t…
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьSimplicity is the answer!
Thanks, very helpful
Josh what would you set a indoor event with spotlights at.
ОтветитьThank you for the simplicity.
Ответитьthank you!
ОтветитьConfusion
ОтветитьHmm.. I still think white card is much better than presets. But I get it. When u r busy, just gotta go with the presets
Ответитьmany times, setting the white balance before starting recording is not possible in a fast manner, when you simply just have to shoot the scene quickly and not fiddle with any setting the camera. awb-lock is the best thing and it surprises me that only some expensive cameras have it. afaik, only fujifilm and sony started to implement it in recent years. this should be a feature avalilable in all cameras, beginner or not.
ОтветитьGreat video explaining White Balance for Lumix Cameras. Your footages are real nice in consistency of colours! Personally, I know how important it is to set WB, else it's a headache in post.
Do you use the hue settings for WB? I find that changing Kelvin units, is not enough to get the right color. More often that not, I change the Kelvin and hue to match what AWB shows me. AWB lock like a previous commenter mentioned would be killer feature.
I’ll grey scale on a bigger shoot in different environments but those presets have been around for years and with good reason…..they work. Nice one mate…….hands up how many times you’ve forgotten WB though 😂
ОтветитьIt is hard to set up correct white balance on my lumix s1, even on kelvin 5600, my footage is too green, luckly it's easy to correct in post. Do u have any tips for that?
ОтветитьGreat tips, thanks.
ОтветитьShort & straight to the point ⚡️⚡️
ОтветитьGood Advice
ОтветитьHey Josh, I’m not sure if you or anyone else in the comments know the answer or have already made a video on it. But I’m super confused about the slow and quick function on the S5.. I’ve set the camera to NTSC & MOV so I can get 1080p, 4K 24p 10bit 4.2.2 etc. But I’m super confused because as soon as I go to the S&Q mode I literally can only set either 1080p 120fps 8bit 24p or 4K 60fps 24p 8bit (the options to go up to 180 is there). But also it immediately changes me back to MP4 and then when I click the dial back to movie mode I have to re select .MOV and re select 4K/1080 24p 10bit 4.2.2!. So confused I’m sure I’m doing something wrong because it seems so stupid it’s frustrating. Thanks thanks if anyone has any tips.
ОтветитьI did a shoot this week with some bright orange backgrounds, AWB had a very bad time in some clips. Definitely won't be making that mistake again.
ОтветитьNice and practise vídeo!
ОтветитьThx !!! Great video
Ответитьtotally agree with you. helped me a lot. thanks. S5 videos are amazing by the way i own a S5 as well.
ОтветитьThanks for this, Josh. About firmware update 2.3 that's coming in July, are you going to talk about it soon, or are you going to wait until it's released? I, for one, am excited about the S5 getting BRAW output. I'm wondering what else might be there.
ОтветитьDid this mistake today. Had no time to prepare to shot a talent in a green screen setting. You know the situation when you are shooting video on a green screen and the client wants some stills. I went for the AWB.. big mistake.. made a lot of extra work for myself in post.
ОтветитьYES!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI shoot with the Fujifilm X-T4.The AWB on the Fuji is excellent---use it all the time and my white balance is always excellent no matter where I shoot. That sounds crazy, but it's true. Fuji has a feature I haven't seen on any other camera. It's called AWB-L, and you can assign it to one of your programmable buttons. Toggle it off and Fuji gives you the correct white balance for the scene, or room, your environment---whatever it might be. Toggle it on and the white balance you just acquired is LOCKED, and won't change, until you toggle it off to acquire a fresh white balance. IMO EVERY camera ought to have this feature.
Is it always perfect? Absolutely speaking, "no." Practically speaking,"yes!"---it's either spot on or much closer than I could ever guess. And it eliminates the interruption of your work flow shooting to stop everything and get your white balance manually....and it's better than the presets. My white balance correction time in post in minimal.
Glad I switched to Fuji.
when you told me this......🤯 Great to see you on the up bro. Gerald Undone better watch out ;)
ОтветитьGreat tips as always 👍. Cards and light meters are not 'pointless' though. It's horses for courses. There are convenience manoeuvres that you can use as a one-man-band shooting a corporate video for a local business, that don't necessarily render set production techniques irrelevant.
ОтветитьFunny, when I used the GH3, I used Kelvin or presets all the time, but was never really happy with the results. Probably wasn't doing it right back then. I also used the Custom WB tool that shoots something grey/white and uses that, but in extreme colour conditions like strong blue or yellow light that method isn't accurate, either. When I got the GH4, auto white balance was good enough to use for most things, and I could rely on it in general. The G9's auto WB is even more accurate.
ОтветитьGreat video Josh, Nice and quick and to the point... love it
ОтветитьAmazing tip. Thank you for the consistent uploads! Just got my S5 2 weeks ago :)
