Which tip do you think will have the largest impact on you as a wedding photographer?

I do all kinds of photography, but not weddings. My vision is not that good, and most everything I can handle, but I know I could miss something at a wedding. I admire what you guys do!

I disagree. You don’t have to have a back up camera at all. Just multiple sd cards and multiple batteries. Multiple lenses. If you can’t afford 2 cameras it’s all good. That’s just over kill.

If you’re new and don’t have a team/ second shooter, Would you still suggest going on your own or wait until you can find a second shooter?

What is you go to best lens for weddings. During the winter time. Is there any other management system that I can use which is free for now .

One thing i disagree with is doing my own timeline. I require a timeline of their day especially their prep from the wedding planner so i can ask my own questions to make everything make sense. Ive done some backwards wedding and weddings with 2 receptions. If they dont provide a timeline for me to fill in where im going to be. I tell them im not responsible for anything important missed. During our meeting i always tell my couples to trust me and trust the process. If something doesnt make sense, ill tell them & they usually change it.

I've been shooting for 6 years and im always curious on everyones opinions and thought/do process. So yes im here to educate myself in every valuable way. Once i seen your starting price, i figured i needed to take notes lol

I do sports photography and my Boss Man at the company likes me a lot and he wants me to shoot his friends daughters wedding in a few months. This video is exactly what I'm looking for. The photo side is easy peasy. I'm trying to figure out how to survive the day and what I need have prepared going in.

Are you sharpening in post? if so what are you using ? I would think you would shoot groups at f11 or f16 to hold focus

Ok so am 11 years old and my cousin is getting married and they told me TO BE THE PHOTOGRAPHER and some other girl as well why because am very good at taking pictures and stuff but the thing is I don’t know how to use a camera and am always looking up how to use cameras and stuff and even now looking up wedding photographers but ya!

One that springs to my mind immediately is pre scouting the location from the church , the reception and surrounding area beforehand as you have weeks if not months before the day. Even bring sons friends along and take test portraits to see what works

I was a wedding photographer for 17 years and got out of the business. Now that I’m fully retired I am revisiting going back into the business. Great advice to beginners and it even reminded me on a few dos and don’ts. The only thing I like to add is not to take pictures at the reception while people are eating.

Never really thought about all the different components of photographing a wedding, very helpful video!

The biggest mistake I made when I first started out in wedding photography was not making a double back up of my clients photos. Imagine that nightmare. Now I always back up on Google Drive AND Pic-Time. Backing up once is just way too risky.

This isn't my first wedding but man this was so good , so helpful I'll never stop being a student when it comes to this .

For the group photos, besides stopping down, I'd add be sure to focus on the person/line CLOEST to camera. The focal plane goes BACK, not forward. So focusing on someone in the back row or even the middle means you'll lose focus on those in front.
