Enabling flow-control could benefit throughput from faster eth to slow ones. For instance, from 10G sfp+ to 1G eth, especially wireless APs are wired to the 1G eth. In my homelab case, when flow control is disabled, the wireless throughput is usually capped to 400Mbps, with flow control on, the throughput could reach much higher up to 800Mbps, though it still can't be compared to 1G-to-1G throughput.
However cpu flow control is setting flow control to cpu port to avoid congesting management traffic.
