Why no Sonoma video?

I really can’t watch anymore of the LTT videos. They get so much just plain wrong (not about Macs, about everything - but in this case the shared library is significantly more sophisticated than Google’s as it still supports end-to-end encryption in the background via key vaults). They don’t seem to really know a lot about the tech they’re talking about. I know they think they do, but the whole PS5 flash climbdown was just embarrassing and it’s still happening.

Now that I know my MacBook Air is now no longer getting updates to the OS I have more reason to jump ship and get a windows or chrome based laptop in the future.

Actually, I think the system settings overhaul is awesome. It’s great to see MacOS and iOS coming together in their design language.

All I'm saying, next year, I'm not upgrading until June.

It was stable, everything worked. I've never had issues with a macOS update before Ventura. 13.2 finally comes out, so hopefully Ventura is stable. But there's still bits and pieces of software from 3rd parties I'm waiting on. And it's not worth the effort for me to downgrade, so I'm just stuck waiting on developers now.

The change to “System Settings” is certifiably stupid, can confirm. The layout isn’t the worst but is a much unwelcome change.

Until they have a decent native windows management system that works with ALL apps.
The amateur programers who work on Mac OS should look at how the Linux distro, POP OS, has implemented windows tiling to see how program professionals do programming.

Linux's two main desktop environments have had system settings like this for years. Both KDE and GNOME. KDE has the best settings menu out of all modern mainstream OS desktops

Alt tab view is nothing new on Windows 11. It's actually also on Windows 10 and even windows 7, with perfect view and bug free, unlike Windows 11.

I really wish James would stay away from all Apple stuff. He sucks at reviewing it and he is poorly researched. I actually wish James stayed away from LTT entirely. He is not a good fit for anything on LTT.

The video heavly lacks one crucial info, that Ventura is not designed for Macs that only has 8GB RAM. It uses a lot of RAM at idle, an 8GB machine automatically resort to paging right after boot-up.

Shared library is not the same as shared album of Google Photos. iCloud Photos had shared albums for a long time.

I can see quite a few UI inconsistencies/weirdness. For example, some text in buttons and search bars are not aligned to the center. In some search bars the text is not centered with the 'magnifying glass' icon. Looks like some Linux Distros I've tried, and it's not something I would personally pay for.

I've been noticing this quite a bit recently in 'modern' UIs. Did they not hire any typography experts or something? Apple was quite big on that a decade ago.

Windows 11 has similar problems, if I last remember, in their new context menu design. The mouse hover highlight feels like its squishing the text. Did they fix that?

System settings change is a complete Apple wank. No point to it other than frustrating users.
