The issue I have found with many diagnostic code readers is how large of a variance there is between different car models. Some cars allow you to do a multitude of functions yet others have almost no options. That’s frustrating.
It would be nice to see screenshots of allowed functions from each car model shown by the code reader manufacturer.

I am in the hunt for a bidirectional scanner to use on my Subaru Outback '18. As a diy-er I don't want to break the bank. Then stumbled upon your review of the D7 and thin this might just be the tool I need as it fits my needs/budget. I was only wondering if it is able to perform automatic transmissions re-learning (subarus require this after a CVT fluid change). Hoped you can answer. Cheers.

I have a D7 and tried to do a ABS brake bleed on a Honda accord and two other Honda cars. It doesn't work properly. It will rung th ABS motor but it will not move from one brake to another it just runs the abs until you disconnect the scan tool. If you leave it running it will just pump out all the brake fluid. I've connected this to many vehicles and it will automatically identify around 50% of cars. It says it cal do all this stuff but it just doesn't. I tried to reset my oil service light on a 2018 Cayman; nope will not do it. It sounds good but I have not been very impressed.

Can this d7 check tranny fluid amount?

I see the EPB option. Will that put my 10th gen accord in service mode to do the rear breaks, I'm gonna do them soon.

I got my car from a salvage yard years back with a clean title and it came with remote start. Had to leave the car for a while and when I came back I had to replace the battery. Every since then the remote start has not worked.... I took it to the dealer they told me that it vehicle did not come with the feature. I got on reddit and they suggested a new hood switch and I have replaced it, but still don't have the remote start feature working... My question is will this tool allow me to at least see what's going on, or even re-enable the feature?

For my Lexus Es 350 2012, every time the battery cable is off the security & immobiliser is triggered so the car won't start unless I erase the code. Does xtool 7 support that. or I need a D8? Many thanks

I’ve had several scanners over the years. Even snap on scan tools can’t do everything this can do. I have an autel and it can only do heavy duty trucks and pickup trucks. It’s slow with live data and not as fast to communicate.
This thing seems pretty nice. Especially for its price point.

thanks for the free education and sharing of knowledge! I just want to note that there is a yearly subscription model after getting the free updates for the first few years. I'm not sure how that would work but its concerning. Maybe they would iron out all the bugs, adding new features and supporting more car models to make these scan tools perfect so that you wouldn't need need new updates and can stay off the expensive subscription model. It would be similar to Volvo's OEM scan tool with expensive subscription model (for access to special functions) but this one is much more modern (android platform vs windows OS) and does support key programming so it should get all the 👍

Bought one a month ago from your affliated link, the obdm cable is one piece, the obdm port connection dongle is now intergrated. No more screwing on or off. Maybe your review had something to do with the change.

EDIT: UNFORTUNATELY the 7% negative comments on amxn puts me off. Sounds like real people with real experience giving a really bad review. Not accurate, no support, doesn't work on their car, doesn't have a PIN, doesn't even provide basic functions, can't return it because of amxn policies, etc. etc. etc.
7% negative comments is high if you want to buy a product from overseas. That's rolling the dice with such a lot of money. Too bad.
