A sci-fi post-apocalyptic RPG - Encased review

I know I'm super late but some more games to add to your back lunch and I'm amazing our Divinity original sin 2 and the upcoming Baldur's Gate seems very promising and I was made by the same devs as divinity. It's a lot like in case gameplay-wise, but in a fantasy setting. It almost feels like playing Dungeons and Dragons the video game almost literally

Recomendations for CRPGs (other than the useual Baldurs Gate and OG Fallout games):

-Wastelands 2 and 3: Fallout is actually a clone of Wastelands. A few years after Fallout New Vegas came out, some of the OG creators of Fallout went back to make Wastelands 2. Wastelands 2 is a solid game, fun story, gameplay and all. Wastelands 3 however outclasses Wastelands 2 in every way. Wastelands 3 outclasses a lot of games period. Quality writing and dialog that rivals Fallout New Vegas. Turn Based Tactical gameplay that surpasses Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (my favorite Final Fantasy game), an RPG system that could put most RPG systems to shame. Wastelands 3 is as near perfect game as I have ever played.

Underrail: Not to be confused with Undertail, another isometric Sci Fi post apocolyptic game. This time, humanity has been forced to live underground in the metro system (yes, I assume it's a direct refference to the Metro franchise). Very old school. Skills, stat points, action and hit points, turn based and all that. Bit lower budget than Encased but works well with what it's got. The psychic powers in this game are really fun as well. This game can be difficult, but it evens out by having multible ways to solve a problem and the fact you can export and reimport your character (complete with all Equipment, Level, skill, Perks, etc) right back to the begininng of the game (allowing you to face old challanges at a higher level).

Pillars of Eternity: Spiritual succesor to Baldur's Gate. Fantasy game that is less "Bog Standard Darkages Fantasy" and more "Rennisaunce". It's a pretty game with a wonderful soundtrack. My only complaint is it insist on that crap "Pause button, RTS combat" (seriously, either go Diablo, go turn based, or stop going isometric, the combat space bar has never been a good design). Other than that though it's real solid.

Shadow Run: There are 3 games in this series (more if you count custom campaigns). 1: Shadowrun Returns, fun game that serves as great intriduction to world. It's only "sin" is it's just not as good as it's succesors (whitch not really a sin, so much as an endorsement of the next 2). 2: Shadowrun Dragonfall: This DLC campaign is the next logical step in evolution for the first. Better story, teammates you can actually care about, big improvement.
3. Shadowrun Hong Kong: Just as Shadowrun Dragon Fall is an evolved form of Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Hong Kong is a great improvement to Dragon Fall. An even BETTER story and writing with a few improvements on game play. I recomend playing through all three in order of release, starting witn Shadowrun Returns.

X-COM EW: Not actually a Role Playing game in a conventional sense. However I customized my soldiers to resemble me and my friends. This made me care a LOT more about my soldiers. When they died, million times more impact. When they survived and got stronger? Absolute pride. EW is just like EU but with a fun new antagonist faction, and more ways to turn your soldiers super human. X COM II has bad class design (they turned the Psychic into a generic op casting class instead of an upgrade to soldiers...what it SHOULD BE, 2 has bad class design overall), got rid of Gene Mods and Cybernetic Enhancement, the plot is a BS retcon from EW (the equivilent of a DM just declaring you loose because of a wounded ego). 2 however can still be fun is you add War of The Chosen, and a few mods to make the classes more like the ones in EW.

One of my favorite parts in all of these games is all of these games have customizeable protagonist. Personally I will always be more bias to such and refuse to play one that won't let me indulge in a bit of vanity. Especially if their Isometric.

Kind of reminds me of Atom RPG, which was a awesome game in itself, though kind of difficult hahaha.

If you liked Encased, I HIGHLY recommend you check out Underrail.

You shoukd definitely try Divinity Original Sin 2, it has complete freedom the way you approach the game and the story is amazing, and the cast of characters you play side by side with are all interesting and has their own arcs stories and is very vital to the main story, it is by far the most RPG of all RPG.

Disco Elysium and Shadowrun Dragonfall and Hong Kong (Returns isn't great) are all great choices for you.

I think if you enjoyed this one, you might also enjoy Wasteland 3. (2 isn't amazing either.)

Interesting game

Nice Review! I dodged this one and went for Wasteland 3. Perhaps i'm gonna give it a shot someday. On another note, Disco Elysium replaced Fallout 2 as my top CRPG.
