and I played as the father I newer know there was a brother

I find the Father story to be more wholesome and different. You dont really play as a Father in games. I also think the og sound track sounded better in some tracks like The Forgotten stone

The conversation about the dream with her dad was so much more interesting. It's kind of funny that they doubled down on original brother version when Father/Child dynamics have made some of the modern masterpieces in The Last of Us and God of War. When they originally created the father version it was super misguided of what the West likes but releasing the remaster using that version would almost make sense in this era.

I'm not gonna lie. Playing as the father hit me more painful than playing as the brother.

I'm a fan of Dad Nier, personally. Plus Jamieson Price's booming voice was iconic. I get that Japan holds brother-sister relationships in high regard, but, father-daughter relationships hit harder for me. Before the remaster was announced, I was hoping they'd do one, and had fingers crossed they'd allow us to choose between Young and Old Nier, but, alas. Still neat to get to play as Young Nier in the west for once, and the improvements the remaster brought are absolutely welcome. I guess I gotta stick to the DLC to play Dadboi.

NieR Automata pulled on my heart strings hard, but NieR Replicant had a deeper pull. Automata was like losing friends. Replicant/Geshalt was like losing family, again.

For your comment about mistranslations. It's just straight up not the case, all the English dialogue was retranslated back into Japanese for the Gestalt subtitles.

I picked this up on the PS3 cause it looked like a wonderful fusion of Dark Soul's and Final Fantasy. I wasn't disappointed but the story really confused me but I see now why it did. Totally picking up this gem again. Thanks for the video. 😁

Though 1.2 is a graphical improvement, I wouldn't say it's better. Sure, textures are higher quality and there can be more detail in environments. Sometimes the lighting and colours do look better in the original. It's a case by case basis.

But also when it comes to the faces, some animation data was lost or didn't translate as well. It's the eyes in some scenes. Not emoting as well as it did before

Kinda wished that the pc version had cutscenes capped at 30 but still have gameplay at 60 and higher.

The cutscenes were made with 30 fps in mind and didn't have proper lip sync for English dialogue. And in 60fps, you can really see it. But gameplay should be 60fps and higher

Even though I do love the remake and never played the original. I do wish that the original release was sold along side. I like comparing versions.

Am I the only one that hopes this gets a Switch release? Switch is fast becoming my RPG platform as just about bloody every RPG gets released for it, has been ported to it, or remastered for it.
