Alabama here, lve been wondering about mulberry. I do love mulberries, so cutting a tree is out. Unless 1 ends up dieing. I love the bowl, now l know just in case. Thank-you very much. Have a great Memorial day weekend.
ОтветитьVery nice liking that Mulberry a lot, colour grain all good. 😁
ОтветитьBeautiful bowl, thanks for sharing ❤
ОтветитьWoah! That spilt down the middle looks formidable. Can't wait for the finish. Nice job
ОтветитьI hear the chatter of the unsupported wings. Keep the center mass until the top rim is DONE. Such an important concept. Nicely presented.
ОтветитьFruit wood? Ever turn citrus or mango? Royal Poinciana are in full bloom here in south Florida. Have always wanted to turn that wood.
ОтветитьAmazing the two halves stayed together. Well done
ОтветитьLove your glue+sandpaper technique. Works so well.
ОтветитьKent, it's very beautiful! Fruit trees have a beautiful texture, but their geometry is distorted and can crack when drying. I use a 55 degree sharpening according to your recommendation and I am very pleased!
ОтветитьGuys Kent is correct about taking his courses will speed up your turning experience. I started turning during Covid and watched every video and have taken his courses. It works I now can make beautiful bowls my wife loves them so much I’m not allowed to sell them. Kent didn’t ask me to promote his videos. Kent a buddy of mine who is an arborist called me about a cherry tree he just cut down. I have a 30” crotch and I’m not sure how I’m going to get them on my American beauty. Happy turning my friend.
ОтветитьVery Nice Kent. Pretty bowl. Another beautiful piece to add to your Esty collection.

I have used the tried & true finish and it has a terrible smell, Iam I doing somthing wrong. That Crack in this price would have scared me off. Thanks
ОтветитьBeautiful piece! I've turned a few pieces of mulberry but have more in the barn getting ready. Thanks, Kent!!
ОтветитьReally helpful teaching video for angles of flute and tool, thanks Kent. The bowl looks great as well. I have some apple and plum wood at my sons house, been there for over a year now, not going to be there much longer! Almond and olive are nice to turn as well, the older the olive the better for grain figuring. Almond has some lovely colouring in the heart wood. Looking forward to the next learning experience. Thanks again.
ОтветитьNice bowl. You remind us of the importance of tweeking the tailstock. I understand but sometimes I forget. Flying bowls contribute to an annoying pucker factor. Maybe the engineers at Robust could incorporate a beefy compression spring in the tailstock assembly to mitigate this issue. Just a thought.
ОтветитьVery nice great information.
ОтветитьThat's an awesome bowl.
ОтветитьI have turned mulberry! Some wet from my back yard. It was small. I god basically a small candy dish from it. Dried it in the microwave. I also turned a small glue-up to make a speaker from mulberry my god parents cut down and had milled up in Vermont. Always love wood with a story.
ОтветитьI love it when the wood gets that reflective shine to it! I have turned a small piece of green mulberry and it had a lime green color that stayed. It looked really cool I thought. I found the next piece was dryer and turned a yellow brown color.
ОтветитьVery beautiful
ОтветитьWhen turning a bowl what tools to you need. Such as do you just need bowl gouges or other tools aswell.
ОтветитьHas anybody ever told you that you look a bit like Terrance Quinn?
ОтветитьQuick question, What sanding pads do you use, as in the thing that the sandpaper itself is attached to?
