Just found out mine is 40,000 I almost bled out from a biopsy. Also I was kind of wondering why a tiny cut wouldn’t stop bleeding after a day. But I also got a stem cell transplant 6 months ago so my doctors are keeping a close eye on me. But I am noticing the red dots, bruises and bleeding in my gums. Hopefully this won’t last long.

A few things can cause chronic low platelet levels. One possible cause is "Immune Thrombocytopenia" in which your fighter immunity cells fail to fight viruses and bacteria (infection) but start attacking the platelets (red blood cells). The dead platelets are dumped into the spleen. This can cause the spleen to swell and sometimes the spleen has to be removed. NOTE: high platelet levels often indicate kidney dysfunction.

My platelet count was 107 and now, after 3 weeks, it went up to 127. Don't understand that 3 digit number when you indicated numbers in the thousands. I am on warfarin for 9 years due to heart valves leaking and AFIB. Had 11 nose bleeds last month, each lasting two hours or more. Was taken to ER after a 3 hour nose bleed. Hi everyone I am a survivor of this disorder known as ITP. I started my menstrual at 12 and just a couple of months after I started again but never stopped for two weeks. I finally told my mother because at this point I could bearly walk down stairs. I went into the emergency room and the doctors didn't know what was wrong. I had a blood transfusion and sent to a cancer center where I was diagnosed with ITP after a bone marrow test and given hemoglobin transfusion to up my platelet count. This started a long process of treatment. For a year I took medicine and finally I was by now consider a chronic blood disorder. The last thing for me to was to get my spleen removed. We didn't know if this would work but we did because if not I would have to live with getting transfusion for the rest of my life they said. Thank the lord above that it did work!! And now I'm 38, a mother and living my life normally as everyone else. I was told that because my spleen was removed I have a weak immune system. That I would have to be careful but other than that I'm healthy and live a normal life. I would think that by now they would have learned more about this disorder but that is my encounter with this blood disorder. Thank you to who ever reads this!! Take care,
