With 70% of the Nigerian population under 30 -- and over a third of them unemployed -- millions of young people struggle to find work.
This issue is echoed across the continent with many young people particularly in rural areas unable to find jobs. Estimates show that by 2035, there will be more young people entering Africa’s workforce than in the rest of the world combined.
This is why the International Fund for Agricultural Development or IFAD is working with local governments in nine African countries to fund business youth hubs. These hubs provide rural young people with on-the-job training in innovative agricultural techniques and connections with local businesses to help them jump start their careers.
