Here is a I IV V progression with A as the root. Each chord is approached as being derived from the Mixolydian mode relative to the root of the chord.

Notice no flat 3 to 3 and no flat 5 to 5 which automatically makes for the "bluesy" sound.

That will be attacked in the follow up vid.
