Dude.. the appeal is that there’s others. People who you can trade with, befriend. People who will help you, or you help them. Then there’s always the lingering threats. The Greifers, the trappers. The people who just want chaos. You can build a massive base and have it for years, and lose it in a day. Or it can remain protected, a well kept secret. Unfound.

No.. the LAST thing you do is find a nether portal lol. Just get out of spawn in over world, it’s not THAT hard. Going into the nether means likely running into people, and potential portal traps you can’t get out of without a pickaxe. Unless you want/can sprint to death. I’d say just don’t go into a portal until you’ve got a diamond pickaxe.

going through a nether portal at the start probably isn't the best option imo
usually if I'm starting out at spawn I just walk away for a good couple thousand blocks and then go in a portal
the ones at spawn are usually trapped like you found out

theres a client that lets you use chat with the portal

It's a miracle that no one has hacked their way into an admin account or just hack themselves the ability to use commands and just put a command block down / kill all players and then just activate it and oh look no no one can plan the server ever again
